he'd be beating the p4p #1 and an ATG at the same time... How would you have Cotto down in terms of greatness?..
Floyd is no longer a "Suggested" atg. Like Hopkins, he is a lock. If Cotto beat him he would also be an atg with wins over Mosley (off his peak but far from shot) and FMJ. Other decent wins for Cotto are Zab Judah 34-4 Carlos Quintana 23-0 Paulie Malignaggi 21-0 Ricardo Torres 28-0
Let him do it first. With the standard and 'logic' of posters on this forum, floyd beats robinson by virtue of beating hatton,so therefore if cotto beat floyd then cotto rsf 3 peak ali...
well if cotto beat floyd and beat everyone they put in front of him like floyd has then i can see him being a atg , i'd like to see him beat a few others besides floyd like hatton , paul williams ect . but fighting oscar isn't gonna do a whole lot for him because critics will say oscar is shot , floyd softened him up , or oscar is now way past his prime , cotto could very likely become a atg but as a fan imo i can't see him beating floyd , i don't like floyd , i never will but the damn guy is unbeatable, his speed and movement would probally give cotto trouble as shane mosely is easier to hit than floyd is
good point Druid , but who else besides paul williams , is a good fight for cotto , i think him and baldomir would be a good fight in terms of throwing bombs but cotto could easily beat him , maybe a fight w/ vernon forrest would look good on cotto's record , but would that be a fight vernon would want ?
I think Cotto needs to fight DE La HOYA. IT will be a sure win and it will make him a superstar. Then all he has to do is wipe up the division that Floyd fears.
Call me what you want but if Cotto cleaned out the division right now I would rank him higher than PBF all time. That means beating Pwill, Margo, Kermit and maybe a fringe dude like Clottey or Collazo in destructive fashion. I'm guessing Cotto would need that signature win over an ATG like Hoya but he has a solid win over SSM.
I guess, it would be a matter of opinion though. I don't recall PBF taking out all possible challenges in one particular weight class, if Cotto did it, he would have done it in what's considered the most talented weight class in boxing.
"I don't recall PBF taking out all possible challenges in one particular weight class" Floyd owned 130 and 135... no question about it.
