If Cotto elects to fight Pacquiao on June 9th; Would that mean he ducked Mayweather?

A bit (or a lot) silly to think that avenging a relatively recent brutal stoppage loss (one in which he wins will have him beating everyone he has ever fought) taking precident over a mayweather fight right now is considered a 'duck' to anyone

I agree with you, 08 was perfect for Cotto vs Mayweather and it's a shame that it didn't happen. IMO **** like that is exactly what caused some fans to move over to MMA. Some people blame Floyd, some blame Arum.. I blame both.

Considering there's more interest in a Floyd fight; don't you think he'd make more money fighting him?

Nobody said anything about being scared. If a fighter has an option of fighting two guys and chooses to fight the guy in which he has a better chance of beating; to some that is considered a duck. Especially if he can make more money fighting the other guy.

Main argument so far is that he wants to avenge his loss to Pacquiao.. I don't know, if I were Cotto I personally would rather fight Mayweather for the challenge of taking his 0 and possibly more money. There's more interest in that fight anyway as most of the boxing world has responded negatively to the idea of Pac vs Cotto II.

I believe it's Floyd the one avoiding Cotto. If Mayweather wishes to fight him he would've done it a long time ago. I think Floyd could be unsure if he really has the skill or power edge over Cotto much more if he faces him at 154. I really hope he would pick Miguel Cotto. But I don't see it happening, everyone knows Floyd who hides his cautiousness on being so called businessman fighter where it's just okay to choose inferior opponents. True future ATG.

Good points. I think Floyd was weary of the younger prime Miguel before his loss to Margo, but I'm not sure if he feels the same about this version. Cotto should probably demand both guys to fight him at 154 and select whomever agrees to fight him there.. I don't think it's smart for him to go back down to 147.
