Sorry, overhand lefts. My bad, but Quintana just isn't that good. He got too much credit for beating a pretender prospect in Julio, who was just another in the line of Columbian fighters who pad up records on soft opposition, look like animals against tomato cans but are limited fighters against decent guys. Quintana is decent, but he's B/B- at best. I has happy he beat Williams, as he deserved to win that fight the way Williams fought, but he looked so limited that you kept wondering why the hell Williams didn't adapt. You can't convince me that Quintana is a complete fighter.. he's not.
He isn't elite, but he IS a good solid fighter. And his win over Williams only makes Cotto look that much better. :yep
He would get an even WORSER pounding I think Quintana would say **** not this again, and now he's gonna take my belt
Really?:huh Well why was it that Quintana was FAVORED amongst those in the Puerto Rico GYM's prior to that fight? Who else saw more of both men's entire career's than they? It was something that Cotto was truly OFFENDED BY:yep It inspired him to a destoyer mentality. BTW? Quintana was coming on when Cotto landed a SHOT heard round the WORLD. Julio? People are hung up on saying that and I'll bet many didnt SEE that fight It was a thorough 1 Sided OUTCLASSING. It takes skill to perform that way. Dont think so?:huh He justified it AGAIN vs Paul Williams. Surely he could have chose a softer path but instead fought the guy NO ONE other than Margarito wanted to fight. S-K-I-L-L!! Under-appreciated by many. Watch it unfold twice on Williams. If so? Add this name to Floyd needs to clean out list!! Styles make fight's and a Cotto rematch isnt imminent. Quintana should be fighting the other top guy's Cotto isnt. If Floyd fights Cotto as he should and Quintana's still there? :yep
He would school him like he did gomez, quintana is going to loose his belt to williams on june 7 anyways
I think Cotto would probably be able to. Quintana wasn't able to keep Cotto off of him in the first fight and finally broke down under all the pressure Miguel was applying. At this point, I really don't see a need to fight Quintana again unless Quintana is able to keep beating Top 10 fighters.
Quintana as some others have said didn't really impress against Williams. It was one of those sloppy fights where one guy was clearly not there or whatever. Quintana just falls all over at times and relies too much on speed (think Zahir Raheem) at times. He also gets exhausted because of his frenetic style. Cotto will be his bane because Cotto is small enough and precise enough to where the falling around and loose elbows will hurt Quintana greatly. So I see the same result really. Nothing has changed. If he beats Williams on May 7th that'll be something to note. As I think most of us feel Williams just didn't take him seriously.
:huh :nut Did you watch the fight? Quintana CLEARLY OUT BOXED Williams and backed Williams off:good Didnt take him Seriously Cotto took it seriously, that's why HE's THE MAN:yep Quintana will beat Mr. Serious T TWICE:good
Of course I watched it. I watched Quintana lunge in with lefts and grab or spin around Williams for the duration of the fight. And it got progressively worse as the fight went on and Quintana more and more lunged in and grabbed. Quintana is just not that good. His sloppy work ethic and stamina showed up in both the Williams fight and the Cotto fight. We'll see who wins the rematch though. :good
