Do you think it would've made a big difference? I am a Cotto fan but I still see Manny winning.

It could have been much more competitive and more dangerous for MP.

Roach said before the fight, that the version of Cotto still with hair (younger version, and still with trainer Evangelista) was less sloppy, had less obvious bad habits and was more disciplined compared to the current bald version of Cotto, without his original trainer.

Roach said that exploiting those bad habits and sloppiness will be very useful in executing their gameplan for the fight.

I agree with that. Roach is a great trainer but people sometimes forget that because of all his trash-talking. Personally I can't stand it.

Possibly. He was in the fight for a while and didn't get brutally KO'd quick... I mean his corner was like Roach said, purely cheerleading.

I still think Manny would've won, because the disparity was far too much to blame on a bad corner...but yes, that was one of the worst corners in a big fight that I have ever witnessed and I'ved witnessed a hell of a lot of big fights and their corners. I mean that only if the translator for HBO was accurate, as I don't speak Spanish. But if it was accurate translation, they had absolutely nothing of any substance to say and Cotto should've had someone like Steward in there with him-who offered, by the way.

Cotto is a very good fighter but he can physically be undone by someone with extradinary stamina like Pacquiao and start to lose his way in terms of using his skills. Cotto has skills that he forgets to use in there sometimes. He should've had a corner telling him specifics that he may have been able to carry out. If Cotto lasted as long as he did under those circumstances, while I still think he would've lost, I think he'd have gone the distance with less damage with a better corner.

Just look at some of his previous fights.....his current corner was completlely clueless !!!!

The Cotto of old was a boxer/counterpuncher with a tremendous left hook...

I was completely at a loss for for words after Cotto's 1st round instructions !!!

Complete incompetence....his corner was in way over their head !!!!

I believe Papa Trinidad or Steward would have made the difference....Cotto should not have lost that fight ... the first error was agreeing to the 145 catchweight !!!

It would have been closer. Would he won? Possibly, but I doubt it. In the end, it is the abilities of the boxer and his execution that determines the winner.

What a joke. Cotto looked sensational until Pacquiao's power leveled the playing field. Cotto wasn't tactically outmaneuvered, FFS. He was physically beaten down by an opponent with greater force, and greater force of will. Pacquiao stood right in front of Cotto the whole ****ing fight. They TRADED. What was Cotto going to do differently?? He had all the opportunities in the world to make his best stuff count. Pacquiao took as well as he gave. Cotto could not, and did not. If Cotto had greater punch resistance, that, might have made a difference.

Cotto did effective with the jab frustrating Pac in the first round but Cotto went into survival mode the majority of the fight.

It might have been slightly more competitive, but still would have had the same result in the end...corners don't make that much of a difference during the fight. Maybe during training, but during the fight, its just mano de mano. Hell, Ricky Hatton had one of the best corner men in the business and he still got the living **** knocked out of him.
