G is definitely better, he actually uses his reach and has good boxing ability. Chico is my boy but, he was as much a come forward brawler as you could find.

So if Cotto were to knockout Golovkin than he would have a significantly better win on his resume than anything Floyd has.

Well SRL eeked out a decision over Hagler and GGG is everything Hagler was plus far more conservative with his shots.

Not that I think CottHOE survives 3rd rd but IF.....HE DID IT AND KOD EM BOTH....

BETTER THAN LEONARD SO BETTER THAN MAY PAC

If that happens I would be the first to admit IDKSAB. If there's still a world left after that.

Size matters. That's why a win over GGG is better than anything they've ever done. Neither Pac or May have ever fought at middleweight, and GGG is a top ten p4p fighter to boot. The closest they ever got was Canelo, Margarito, and De La Hoya. Cotto's already beat Martinez a top ten p4p middleweight, and Margarito. Add to that the thread's conceit that he also takes out Canelo and his CV is incredible.

I diagree with the premise of this post. May and especially Pac have moved further up through divisions beating p4p comp.

OP said a Golovkin + Canelo KO. Golovkin is much better than Corrales or Hatton just given the nature of his superior size. He's a middleweight and Corrales was a super feather. Hatton was a junior welter. Plus, I don't know how you say that Corrales was equivalent to Golovkin. Corrales was in four title fights against nobodies before Floyd beat him. Hatton had five against better comp. Golovkin is the victor of 16 title fights and counting.

To me the Pac win is as tainted as Cotto's Martinez win so they wash each other out.

That's all smoke and mirrors. Based on bone structure, Cotto is the same size as Pac a 140 lber. He just chose to lift more weights and put on muscle, maybe do more roids. Floyd is a natural 147 lber. They were just beating up little guys as they grew into their natural weight class. The number of guys who've been legitimately bigger than them, who they didn't have height and reach advantages against, you could probably count on one hand. Cotto is giving away height and reach to fight middleweights. That's real weight climbing. He just started closer to his natural weight than they did.

No doubt that IF Cotto knocked out GGG it would surpass the knockout of Corrales.

That doesn't make any sense. It's not like Cotto would grow for the fight. He would be the same size for that fight as he was when he fought Floyd. So an older version of the guy that Floyd beat would have knocked out Golovkin. You would essentially be saying that Golovkin is better than Cotto, even though Cotto just knocked him out.

So Cotto for May would be a better win than Golovkin for Cotto. Canelo would be a wash. Mayweather beating De La Hoya would be better than Cotto's win over Martinez. Floyd's win over Mosley would be better than Cotto's win over Margo. Floyd's win over Pacquiao would be better than Cotto's win over Mosely.

If Cotto beats Canelo and Golovkin, it really ups his stock. However, not enough to go past May and Pac.
