If Cotto loses to Gomez by some miracle would it destroy a potential bout with PBF?

yeah cuz then cotto turns into a high risk low reward type of fighter ala WInky Wright. He would have to work his way back to the top again

 

Gomez winning will give Floyd just the perfect excuse to keep ducking Cotto.

I think the fight goes on if Cotto loses or not ... it will benefit Cotto and Gomez.
Gomez will add another face to the WW division and become the first contender who's accomplished something. Cotto still has options - he gets the chance to fight a champion for his title and build back up his clout fighting the winner of Margarito v Cintron ... the fight still happends next year ...

 

If it happens Cotto v Floyd wouldn't happen. By the time Cotto gets back into contention Floyd will be long retired.

Sure would be interesting to see what happens to the division if Cotto loses.

 

Floyd Mayweather Jr is more likely to fight Cotto if Cotto loses to Gomez. Make no mistake about that. :good

 

it might not sound good but I agree with you ... thats makes the fight hype better. A loss doesn't hurt Cotto ... it helps him in the long run ... he can fight Margarito v Cintron winner, PBF, and rematch Gomez.
