Would you have honestly declared Manny Pacquiao as the best Welterweight in the world, despite what Mosley had done to Margarito? :think

nah. That spot is vacant in my eyes. Floyd has the only half-legit claim to it actually.

I disagree. Mosley is the man to beat at 147lbs, and Floyd retired for a year.

No, my reasons are that Cotto wasnt the top WW to begin with when he and Manny faced off...Pacman would have to beat Mosley for him to gain that crown IMO!

I don't consider Mosley the man to beat really. He was #3 when he fought Margarito. Cotto at that point was still ahead of Mosley despite losing to Margo.

If Mosley had rematched Cotto and won after he beat Margo, I'd agree with you.

Exactly. The moment Mosley beat the living day lights out of Margarito was the moment Mosley became the man to beat and nothing has changed since then.

Probly not because of the way he was beaten by Margo who recently lost to Shane or maybe because Margo probly cheated.

Rankings hold about as much weight as the belts do these days. The fans know...and Mosley earned the right with demolishing the man that demolished the man. Nothing has changed that since seeing as Pacquiao hasn't fought at Welterweight since Oscar and Floyd has done nothing note worthy for what? ...2-3 years? Time will tell but right now? ...Mosley.

:yep Now being the lineal champ is something differnt...If Somebody can unify and take Mosley spot as the #1 WW then you can make a case for them!

I never considered Cotto the man. For someone to become the man, #1 and #2 have to face off at some point. That never happened since Floyd retired. Not when Cotto fought Mosley, not when Margo fought Cotto, and not when Mosley fought Margo.

thats why I consider that there is no man at WW. Pac could have KTFO Mosley at 147 instead of fighting Cotto and I wouldn't consider him the man at welter anyways.

There is a difference of being Lineal Champ and being the man of the division...Many regarded Cotto as the guy to beat of the division once Mayweather retired...After his string of Victories at the time kinda made a case for his position as the guy to beat.

Kinda like Wlad and the Heavyweight division...There isnt a lineal Champ of the division but MANY regard Wlad as the guy to beat...Kinda similar to the situation with Cotto during that time!

Cotto wasn't the top welter at the time he face Pac, but if the fight would of happened at 147, I would of given Pac more respect. As far as I'm concerned, Cotto should not of had to put his belt on the line IMHO.

If the fight was at 147 and had not lost to Margarito, then I would say Pac is the man at welter.

well I think the guy to beat has to be the lineal champion. Until then everyone just has to be as impressive as they can be to get ranked as high as they can. Its not like to take the #1 ranking, you have to beat the #1 ranked guy. Rankings don't work that way, only championships do. In my book anyways. Its all subjective either way.
