He has never been a legitimate champion at any weight he has fought. He has never never been the best fighter at any weight he has fought.

    So no.

I've got Bazooka Gomez at number one all time in PR...But your point stands. Carlos Ortiz was just an awesome fighter and deserves more recognition than he gets from the mainstream boxing fighter.

Eh, that's a bit of a stretch. I could see him making top 200 pretty easily based on everything he's done in his career. Top 100 would be contingent on how he does against PBF.

He was a "champion" when 140 was the hottest division and he manged to fight almost no one. Cotto is very over rated on this forum.

I suppose. I don't know man, if he died today, I would say anyone putting him top 100 is too focused on the short term. In his own era alone of the past decade, I'd rank him behind a good probably 20 fighters. Do the math, he winds up, likely, just inside or out of my top 200 (if I were to ever do one).

Edit: When we are talking about it really, I scored the Clottey fight to Clottey. Who has he beat? Quintana, Judah, Mosley, Paulie, Foreman, Corley, and Margarito II (which I hardly rank, well below all the others I list)? Not that impressive when we are talking about the elite 100 or 200 best to ever lace them.

SSM is easily Top 200. . Factor in victories over Judah (who is Top 300) Quintana and Foreman and Paulie, and Torres and Clottey (I scored for Cotto in that fight) and he's got a shot at being on the list. Top 100 if he inflicts the first loss on Mayweather's record (though prolly not any higher than Top 75 on mine).

Still, I think he's worthy of being in the IBHOF, since he's at least as quality a fighter as McGuigan.

I value your opinion greatly, but I have to disagree with Cotto being top 100 heavily, 150 moderately, but could understand 200. I just think I could legitimately name 150 guys who I think are better than Cotto "all time." Now that I've thought about it some, he very well might end up being in my top 200 anyhow if I made one, so...

Do you think he is better than Shane Mosley all time?

If he beats Mayweather, I'd immediately throw him in my top 100 easy on virtue of collecting what would be in my opinion one of the absolute best single wins in boxing history.
