    No.

Shane has the W over a prime de la Hoya and moved up TWO divisions to get it. That trumps anything currently on Cotto's resume, IMO...

    Not ******ed at all.

The final round was Margarito's best round of the fight and the tide was *definitely* shifting in his direction.

Who knows what would have happened had the fight not been stopped.

I don't believe that Cotto deserves to be anywhere near an ATG list. Cotto's got a good resume, but what's his best win ? A 36 years old Shane Mosley. Judah, Clottey, Quintana, one eyed Margorito won't be remembered in 20 years. I think he'd need some other success to be an Hall of famer, but he'll probably make it anyway because he's a fun guy to watch and a good guy with a strong fan base.

Based on what exactly? Outside of the right hand, left uppercut combo near the end of the round, Margarito barely landed a significant punch in those final three minutes. His punches at this point in the fight seemed to have very little on them. If that was, indeed, Margarito's "best round" of the fight, then that just further justifies the stoppage, because that round was pretty much all Cotto.

I concur with this statement. It could have been the same as the first fight had it not been stopped. I thought Margarito was certainly gaining momentum and changing the fight.

They don't, Mag. They feel it should be 100 and any decent name from an era should be on their. ATG means, well, All-time great so saying that means a fighter would be great no matter what era they would be in. TOO many people in "ATG lists" have a bunch of guys not even proven enough in their own era to be considered all time great. Why I'm the ATG list killer.

To answer OP, no not enough achievements atm. Beating Mayweather decisively could sneak him in but he's just not good enough to be an ATG. No knock on him but people dillute that list and also the HOF.

The "If Barry is in then so should...." argument only dillutes the hall further making it even less credible. Is it even credible to this point anymore? Doubt it because of guys throwing any decent fighter with popularity in there.

IMHO Cotto is past prime but undefeated because he only lost to cheats so Mayweather would be the first to beat him being a clean fighter. And he's facing him at his comfortable weight and not a BS catchweight for a title which I also fault Martinez for too.

I been watching cotto an been a fan since his first fight back on espn. I am a fan. I just dont let being a fan get in the way of common sense. Will he get in Canastota? Yes. Ingo is in there so that throws out the cred of the ibhof. Should he be enshrined based of acievements in the ring? No I do not think so at all.

He is defo HOF. To be an ATG he needs to do a fair bit more imo. As for those thinking he gets top 100 or higher, he is nowhere near.

I struggle to put Pacquaio and Mayweather in the top 50 and I'm pretty sure they are a fair bit ahead of Cotto.

great fighter though, I'm a big fan but you gotta be realistic about these things.

According to punchstat [yeah, I know] Margarito landed more punches in the final round than in any previous. It looked like, to me at least, Margarito was making a rally and Cotto was getting tired. YMMV...

He beats Floyd and I'd have no problems whatsoever considering him the beat fighter ever out of PR.
