That would've been his first clear decision loss. How would he have reacted if the final bell rang? Most of the time, if both guys go the distance, they celebrate as if they know they won the fight, but Cotto clearly was behind in the scorecards. Joe Santiago probably would've carried Cotto over his shoulders.
That fight should have never gone past the 9th round . Cotto seriously needs to get a more experienced trainer.
Cotto knows he lost that fight at the end of the 9th round. Cotto is a true warrior and wanted to finish win or lose.
He's lucky it's not 15 rounds or else seriously woulda been taken out by ambulance same wit dela homo, morales, Jmm..
Cotto also experinced his 1st real knockdown in that fight. The one against Torres was a hlaf shove, his two versus Margo were kneel-downs, and even the 1st KD with Manny was somewhat of a balance thing, but that 2nd Manny knockdown with a slinging left uppercut hurt him, and caught him completely by surprise. It make Pacquiao's win all that more impressive being that he's the only man to legitimately hurt and drop Cotto to the canvas.
Agree on both counts. I've said it for a while now, but the best possible fit for him would be Ronnie Shields.
IMO, a "true warrior" wants to win [eg. Gatti] & will come out looking to stop his opponent, not hop on a bicycle just to see the final bell.
Cotto would have reacted as he normally does. He would have shown class and respect for Pacquiao, accepting defeat.
After both JMM fights Pac looked more ****ed up than JMM. I think Pac is the one that had to be taken out by the ambulance.
I agree it should have ended at the 9th, but since it made to 12, that nitwit ref should have let it go till the end since he let it go to 12 already.
