if Cotto went the distance in a razor thin fight with Mosley...........

Williams is nothing special, im not in the hype train.

 

Actually both Williams and Margarito pose a question that in my mind Cotto has yet to answer. What does he do against a larger framed, long-limbed banger who can rain down blows from a distance and hold their own on the inside?

I think Cotto is undoubtedly great. But he's a shorter, smaller-framed fighter. He could have problems.

 

Wtf? atsch .....I haven't seen the fight since I don't get showtime, but if my memory is correct....Quintana won the 1st fight, and now Williams wins the 2nd fight.....There should be a rematch.......Even though I know and doubt it'll happen....Just because there is too much money to lose in potental Mega Fights. If Quintanna comes back focused and wins the 3rd fight in the Trilogy?

I just find it sad and funny with some of these fair weather boxing fans....They flip-flop more then a politician running for office.

Make all the excuses you like about Carlos with his hands down, he did the same thing in the first fight, and Williams didnt get him out of there. It was Williams sitting down on his shots and not throwing the wide slappy shots that knocked carlos out. And it Cotto is on the other end of those shots he too will get taken out.

Also keep in mind that despite what was being said about Cotto vs Carlos the fight was alot closer before the stoppage then many people claim today.

 

No need for a rematch, Carlos was wiped out bad, for most of the round he could barely stand up.

 

Hope you're not referring to me SnapBackJab because I'm merely raising what I think is an interesting question the the Welterweight division -- how will Cotto handle some of the taller, longer-limbed and hard hitting opposition in fighters like Margarito and Williams.

But some people see boxing fandom as more akin to fanboydom -- I prefer to watch and enjoy the sport like an adult.

 

Williams is more skilled and talented then Margo, but you make a good point. I expect Cotto to beat Margo, because Margo cant use his jab and fight from the outside, he will be in close with a guy that has much faster hands. On the flipside we havenot seen Cotto be under the fire and pressure that he will be under when he fights Margo, and we dont really know how he will react.

 

We know Paul's tough, but is his body tough~??

 

tell me now how can Williams cna handle a presure short fighter that will be on the inside all day giving you hard punches to the body. Well that question too need to be awnsered.

 

Quintana could have done the samething and not given Williams a rematch either....Considering the boxing lesson he put on Williams in their first fight. Not to mention the financial low blow the Wiliams camp offered for a rematch, and you know what in the end. Like a true Champion.....He gave Williams a rematch. To try and reclaim what Quintanna took.


To me it's tied 1-1 now and it's the best 2 out 3 and there should be a 3rd fight. It's only right, but I understand that boxing politics and the right thing to do. Aren't necassarly the same, but again in my opinion. Williams should man up and give Q a 3rd fight. Prove that the 1st rd TKO wasn't a lucky knockout or if he truly is the better fighter between the 2. As a boxing fan I think that might be too much to ask for though?

 

You're right, Chiko_Tech. That question needs to be answered, too. Will he have a chance to get inside and make it happen? We'll see.

We can talk up both fighters until doomsday, but the only way to settle this is when they finally get it on.

 

Nah, a third match bores me at this point. That was a solid dismantling of Carlos. Time for Williams to move onto the next one.

 

It was more a general statment actually and that's because I've visited many boxing sites tonight. Just to see the bi-polar reactions and threads. I knew those would be the reactions, but they still baffle me.

Great night of boxing for upsets and knockouts, but the over the top uninformed fanboys get out of hand.
