And what you are saying is logical. The crazy thing about it, when you, myself, and others say what you are saying, nowhere are we saying that Bud is THE GOAT. We are simply stating that with this accomplishment, he deserves to be in the discussion. Who the actual GOAT is will ALWAYS vary depending on the era you connect with most and the style of fighter you prefer. There is no 'right' answer to say who the GOAT is.

So, what you saying is that you didn't say this.........

I'm not even going to address the rest of your nonsense because your goofy a$$ don't even know what an opinion is. Claiming that Spence is his best win is the definition of an opinion being that Spence isn't the most accomplished fighter on his resume. He's just the got that you follow most that Crawford has fought. Labeling undefeated world champions 'B Level' fighters because they aren't names you praise as greats. Everything you keep stating is AN OPINION.

You claim to have studied the sport for over 30 years.... I've been a part of the sport for longer. Competed in the amateurs for 15 years. I have 12 professional bouts under my belt with 3 of them outside of the U.S. My career was cut short through health concerns and me building a family. I've been training young athletes since the late 80s. Clowns like you are quick to belittle these fighters and call them washed up, B and C level fighters, bums, etc.... but your corny a$$ wouldn't last a round in the ring with them. It's easy to act like you know more about the more because you read a book or two. One thing you won't get in those books is what it takes to be mentally prepared to lay your life and health on the line to entertain a bunch of strangers who only care about you if you inflict pain on another man who has the same goals as you do in that ring.

I don't really believe you've studied the sport for no 30 years, but even if you did, I highly doubt you comprehend half of what youve read being that you as an adult don't know the difference between FACT and OPINION. Just because you believe in your opinion strongly, doesn't make it LAW homie.

Comprehension is everything. You asking me to name the ATGs he's beaten because you totally missed the message in post and what I was saying...... I feel like I'm trying to have an intellectual conversation with a golf ball. Yet, because I'm a patient guy, I'm still trying to hold the conversation with you......lol.

    -Postol was in his prime.....Undefeated.....

    -Gamboa was in his prime......Undefeated....Top 5 p4p

-Porter was supposed to be Crawford's toughest task. Provide more pressure to Crawford than he's ever faced in his career. Porter was talking about rematches vs Thurman, Ugas, and Spence before getting mandated the Crawford fight. Even talked about moving up to middleweight. Porter and his camp GUARANTEED a stoppage. Doubled down on it the week leading up to the bout. Crawford ended his confidence with a look during the face to face press conference. Then ended his career with a stoppage 48 hours later.

-Hell, no one was claiming Spence wasn't in his prime until after Crawford did what he did to him. Look at the damn mini docuseries that followed both of their camps. It advertised TWO WELTERWEIGHT GIANTS in their prime battling for the first Undisputed status at welterweight in the 4 belt era. If you know anyone that went to the actual event, look at the imprint on the receipt/ticket stub. The word PRIME is literally in bold print. Go look at the weigh in. Listen to the announcers. Listen Spence when he is questioned about Crawford in comparison to himself. Derrick James, Adrien Broner, Tank Davis, Jermell Charlo, etc.... all of their interviews leading up to the fight addressing what will happen. Then look at their tweets, Instagram, interviews the Sunday after.

Now I'm not naming anyone ATGs until they get their name in the HOF. Because HOF is the synonym of what a ATG is.... but these guy others were far from a shell of themselves when they fought Crawford, including Spence...they same guy that his diehards are trying to say is more worthy of fighting Fundora at 154lbs than Crawford who was actually the mandatory for Fundora........but according to you, Spence is.............well......LOL.......

    JusABoxinFan,

First of all, let’s just get a few things straight.

I have a huge amount of respect for Terence. And the fact that he’s actually chased down a fight with Canelo, tells me that he’s the kind of guy who would have loved to have fought guys like the ‘Fab Four’ etc.

He clearly wants to fight the biggest and best fights out there.

Now me saying that he hasn’t got a great resume, is not a slight on him personally. I am just saying that compared to the overall resumes of many other greats, that his resume is weak in comparison.

Yes, it’s actually rare for fighters to fight prime ATG’s. Most times, fighters don’t get the opportunities to fight those kinds of fights.

Yes, claiming somebody as being the GOAT is subjective. However, we have certain criteria that we adhere to, what has been in place for decades.

Now the issue with Terence’ resume, is that not only has he not got any wins over any prime ATG’s, but it isn’t a very deep resume either. Yes, he has fought some good opponents. But his top 5-10 best wins, isn’t as impressive as the resumes of many other fighters.

    Great.

    Nice editing.

Now go and look at what I said just beneath that text.

    I literally wrote:

    “Context is needed”

I know EVERYBODY who Terence has fought. I’ve watched his entire career. Yes, we can have B level world champions. There are many B level world champions within the sport. Solid world champion fighters, but ones who aren’t GREAT, who will never be considered as being ATG fighters.

    1. If what you have said is true, then I have HUGE respect for that.

    2. I would never belittle any fighter who puts on the gloves. All fighters of any level, deserve humongous respect, as they’re all warriors who put their lives at risk.

    3. I have NEVER called any fighter a bum. Never in my life.

What I said, was that a win over a guy like Kell Brook wasn’t a great win, as Kell was clearly diminished at that point, where he had diminished punch resistance.

I have huge respect for Terence. Huge respect for Kell. Huge respect for Amir Khan.

However, when people are proclaiming Terence as being the GOAT, then his resume has to be put under the microscope, as a fighter’s resume is literally one of the most important factors for ranking somebody.

Now those wins over Khan and Kell aren’t really that impressive. Now that is not disrespecting them in any way. But they aren’t great wins, because neither of them were great, and BOTH of them were faded at the time.

    Surely you can understand this.

Yet, both of them would make it on a list of his best 5-10 wins, which again highlights that his resume isn’t really that strong.

I don’t care whether you believe me or not. Nothing I’ve said is wrong in any way.

Saying that Terence hasn’t got a great resume has obviously upset you.

But if you analyse it, then through no fault of his own, that’s simply the truth.

    It isn’t deep.

    It isn’t stacked.

Many of his best wins were against guys who were past their best, where none of them were considered as being great, even in their primes.

    Really?

This coming from the guy who deliberately edited my post to cut off my MOST RELEVANT point?

    Brilliant.

What’s happened here is very simple:

Terence is one of your favourite fighters, or even your FAVOURITE fighter. And you are simply upset because I’ve said that his resume is weak compared to the resumes of many other past greats.

    JusABoxinFan,

Postol was a very good fighter. But never a great fighter. Who had he beaten before he’d fought Terence? Then let’s look at what’s happened after he’s fought Terence.

A very good, skilful fighter. I respected him. But again, nobody considers him as being a great. Again, who had he beaten before he’d fought Terence? Then let’s look at what’s happened after he fought Terence.

Also, Terence had a huge 9” reach advantage over him.

Shawn Porter was a very tough guy. And he was awkward to fight for many of his opponents. He was rugged. But nobody was calling Porter anything more than that. He was beaten by Kell Brook, and who was calling Kell a great fighter? Nobody.

These types of wins are just very good, solid wins, against solid fighters, but nothing more than that.

Also, the stoppage was highly controversial with his father.

    Ha!

    Are you for real?

In the promotional build up, they mentioned that both guys were GREAT and in their PRIMES etc?

    Yeah, it’s called PROMOTION.

It said PRIME on the tickets?

    Really??

Well, I guess that MUST have meant that Errol was in his prime then.

I mean, if it said it on the tickets, it had to have been true, right??

Back in the real world, MANY people, including MANY posters here, questioned the condition of Errol, especially after his crash, his inactivity and his performance against Ugas.

First of all, HOF fighters are in a different group to ATG fighters.

ATG fighters are guys like: Leonard, Duran, Robinson, Floyd and Manny etc.

HOF fighters are guys like: Gatti, Kessler and Hatton etc.

    Two different tiers.

Again, Spence was past his best.

    Kell was past his best.

    Khan was past his best.

    Again, Terence is absolutely great.

But (through no fault of his own) his resume isn’t.

Why? We haven't seen his heavyweight opponents fight talented smaller men so there's no way to know if the weight difference amounts to anything

Opetaia could well beat Usyks heavyweight opponents

How could you know if one all time great would beat another?

It's all a subjective hypothetical opinion

Yes I think that 147 Crawford beats Mayweather, Pacquiao and Oscar but there's no way to prove it

Ultimately there's a lot of subjectivity in boxing discussions because it's not a numbers sport like baseball and basketball

Exactly. All this stuff is just a fun subjective discussion we get into to enjoy ourselves.

No one can actually prove who would have beaten who or who is the best because circumstances are different in each case

As long as we are bringing up good points and are respectful and enjoying this great sport that is all that matters

I do think Ali is the true goat (Heavyweight obviously reigns supreme and Ali has the best resume and achievements etc) but I think Lennox Lewis is the best heavyweight in terms of head to head ability but obviously that is more difficult to prove
