Fury lost to Ngannou and McDermott Fury has only ever beaten an ancient wlad and terrible wilder Canelo has good wins and least he fought GGG Fury hasn't the balls to even fight a bum like Aj Fury is a bum next to canelo
He would be in the conversation, not THE goat. The resume isn't enough He won't beat Canelo, he would have to be as dominant as Bivol which isn't going to happen
Maybe I'm just too rough on the younger fighters, but I just don't think he has fought anyone great. If Crawford won, this would probably be the only ATG that I would rate on his resume. He would rate higher as an ATG, but he definitely wouldn't be the GOAT.
Of the four reasons listed here, three are subjective. So don't be shocked that people disagree. I actually agree that some old school fighters get overrated through nostalgia. But the reverse also happens - active boxers get overrated because people like to believe they are watching something truly special in their own time. Not highlighting Crawford per se as an example of this. Just something I've seen many times over the years, usually for said fighter to then come unstuck.
Crawford is a 3x Lineal. And what is the difference between his win vs Gamboa and his win vs Spence. Both were ranked top 5 p4p by all major sanctioning bodies. Both were undefeated. Both have boxing fans questioning on if Crawford was equipped to deal with what the fighters strengths were. And we got to stop using these car crashes and inactivity as an excuse to belittle the accomplishment of Crawford. Spence chose to drink and speed on a Tuesday evening through a residential neighborhood. And as crazy as that car accident was, Spence received ZERO major surgeries due to the incident. The 2nd car crash was a fender bender. No one was hurt as some tender side swiped his truck. He actually posted a video of him walking around the accident bragging about his truck being bullet proof or something like that. His inactivity was a choice of his own as Crawford spend that entire year negotiating before it fell through. Crawford took a stay busy fight. Spence was healthy and could have done the same, even claim he was going to move on.... Instead, Crawford circled the block and called him directly so that we got the fight that summer. And not that I'm agreeing or disagreeing with you but can you explain to me why Hagler is a much better switch hitter and Mayweather's timing is clearly better than Crawford's. Saying that no is better than ______ usually is the talk of a fan of that fighter rather than the sport.
Crawford has a chance due to his sharpness and Canelo age. He’s a solid fighter with a fairly “not exciting” resume (for a man of his calibre).
OK, go ahead and match Crawfords opponents against this group. 9 of the 10 are in the Boxing Hall of Fame. Midget Wolgast (BHOF) Baby Arizmendi (BHOF) Ray Robinson (!!!!!!) Sammy Angott (BHOF) Beau Jack (BHOF) Firtzie Zivic ( numerous times) (BHOF) Ceferino Garcia (BHOF) Lou Ambers (BHOF) Barney Ross (BHOF) Chalky Wright (on Ring Magazine top 100 punchers)
Porter lost pretty much all his big fights and was never considered the top dog in his division. He also had one foot out the door when he fought Crawford and had been inactive certainly not "very good" he'd be classed as good and that's it. I never said Spence wasn't very good I already classed Spence as a very good opponent but with the car crashes the inactivity some considerable shine comes off the victory. You're the one claiming Crawford is the GOAT if he beats Canelo but then in another sentence you agree with me that he mostly beat a "weak field" so I'm not understanding your logic here.
Difficulty lol 3 judges scored it 119-108 x2, 119-107, a grand total of 1 round Corley won on all 3 of the judges scorecards.
