Will you admit that Spence was drained and depleted and Crawford wants to make sure he's still drained and depleted in the rematch? And don't you think 147 is a MASSIVE issue if Crawford insisted the winner pick the weight for the rematch?
Sorry dude I'm fried from work, so brain isn't firing properly, but surely Crawford refusing the fight at 154 would be a better indication that Spence was drained and compromised? Ie, he doesn't want the rematch at a weight where Spence wouldn't be drained ?
https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/09/crying-wolf/ Excerpt: Not a single excuse from Spence or his team, mind you, but from the guys who backed the fighter who came up short. “Spence was weight drained, Spence didn’t look right, Spence was in a car accident,” or my personal favorite, “Spence was drugged.” To address the argument that Spence was so affected by his car accident in 2019 that it caused him to lose against Crawford in 2023, I must simply inform those stating this that he had two victories after the accident, but prior to the Crawford fight, against high-level opponents. The more general excuse is that Spence “didn’t look like himself.” This is a common phenomenon in boxing that occurs when a very high-level fighter faces a truly elite fighter, or in this case, when an elite fighter faces a top pound-for-pound fighter.
I mean, if Crawford said he's willing to fight Jermell at 154 and Clenelo at 168, but Spence at only 147...
In Crawfords mind, as in most peoples, Spence loses to Crawford at any weight. It's a pointless rematch in an age of pointless rematches. Crawford is on the wrong side of thirty and doesn't want to waste what little time he has left putting Spence through another savage one-sided beating. However he is contractually obligated to. So Crawford is trying to save the man from himself and move on to bigger and better things. Beating Spence again does nothing for him and he might permanently hurt Spence. If you look through the round by round on this website, which you were a part of, you'll see numerous people stating the rematch is pointless.
Yea the car crash excuse is absurd Crawford was just faster and sharper. I think the left down the middle in the final minute of round 1 set the tone
How's it absurd? The guy was thrown from a Ferrari at triple digit speeds and broke all his teeth. You seriously think that he sounds like a low-functioning autistic ever since because of his veneers?
It doesn't matter what Spence wants. He lost. The contract for the fight stated the loser gets to trigger the rematch clause if they want to. But the weight for the rematch is set by the winner. Stop acting like Spence got all this put on him. He signed for it.
He did, didn't he? Crawford is the one in the driver's seat, and both signed up for and agreed to these exact circumstances in advance.
