I think Tyson would've reigned a little longer, but Cus could only have delayed the inevitable. Tyson was a train wreck waiting to happen.
A man of Tyson's nature can't be controlled, it was a matter of time before the downward spiral begun.
Tyson had a genuine love and affection for d'amato , he was like a father to him , he was loyal and obedient to him , when he died that started the spiral of misfortune that became his life , don king ****ed him up .
Tyson always had problems even then. Frequent fights and tantrums at school, getting pistols pointed in his face for groping girls, running off to the streets of Brownsville to do God knows what while Cus and Jose Torres searched around in a car through those streets, looking for Mike (Torres said they rarely found him). It was still very early in Tyson's career when Cus died. Tyson then reportedly robbed and beat someone in a Brooklyn housing project elevator, shortly before he was about to hit the cover of Sports Illustrated. This is all well before Jimmy Jacobs died and Tyson fired Bill Cayton, and was with Don King. He was just a train wreck waiting to happen.
