If what you want is crap talking fighters, than I suggest tuning in to WWE every Monday. You should be promoting the sweet science to the casual fan. Not pre-fight hype and useless crap to sell the sport.

As a boxing die-hard, you have a responsibility to promote and educate the sport the "ignorant" casual fan. like an art critic, you should be pointing out the technical side of the sport...i.e. showing the casual fan what to look for.

Hayes atyle is more excting and not safety first. That isn't attacking Wlad in anyway but it makes the fights more appealing

Dude, that's one fight...it was a stylistic nightmare...but that's what you get in sports sometimes...not just in boxing.

In the NFL, when two dominant defensive teams compete, do the fans start booing? No...most intelligent fans realize that this is a defensive tactical match-up. So what if the score is 6-3 at the final bell. it doesn't mean that it wasn't entertaining. If all you watch boxing for is the Knockout, than you have a lot to learn about the sweet science.

    I just dont understand. :huh
Haye and Wlad fight the same guy. both win,.....Wlad gets ripped for fighting a bum and Haye gets credit because of his style and **** talking? The fighter they are facing has the same record and the same skills yet for 1 guy he is a bum.... :huh

I'm not asking for Gotti/Ward, but it would be nice to kick-back and watch a Heavyweight fight without wondering why the hell am I sitting in on a saturday night to watch this ****. Just because their Heavyweights, doesnt mean they can't have a good scrap, watch Brewster/Liakhovich or even Sanders/Vitali, I apologize I can't think of too many good title matches lately, but these those were a few that happend in the last 5 years.

As far as brawls go, I like them, but their not everything. I enjoyed Valuev/Chagaev back in April of 07, it was a good tactical battle, with some back forth action. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Wlad might be the best in the division, but he's not exciting fans like he used to, and while he' still producing the knockouts, his competition is anything but the best, Rahman and Thompson both didnt deserve to be in the same ring with Wlad, but to my surprise, they hung in their longer than I expected, especially the weak chinned Rahman.

I just hope Haye/Wlad happen, it's the fight everyone wants to see in the division, and no matter what the outcome, it atleast revived the division long enough to get fight fans attention again. It's like when a teachers teaching math, and half the class is on the verge of falling asleep, but when she says whoever can solve this math problem gets a prize, you can bet those who are sleeping will suddenly start to pay attention more.

I understand what you're saying, and again...it is somewhat unrealistic. What happened to Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster, and Sergei Liakhovic after those fights?

Also, read post #33 and #27.

I have been a die-hard fan for years buddy, I'm not the guy you need to sell the fight to, it's the off and on boxing fan who needs a little more promoting to get his attention. Their was a reason why Tyson drew the most PPV numbers for his fights while he was still active, people want to be shocked and not know what to expect, with guys like Tyson you got that. You not only had people watching him who werent even boxing fans because of what he might do or say, but you also had guys like me who wanted see a good scrap and Mike champ again.

I understand what your saying, but every good product needs some type of promotion, something to get peoples attention to draw more fans in. I will give you little example, all my friends laughed at me because I was staying in to watch the Wright/Hopkins fight on PPV back in the summer of 07, but that morning when they turned on ESPN sportscenter and seen Hopkins slap Winky in the face at the weigh-in, all my friends asked if they can come over and chip in on that PPV fight. I grant you the fight sucked, but if it wasnt for Hopkins making a scene at the weigh-in less people would of watched that fight.

Like I said, as a boxing die-hard you have that responsibility to educate the casual fight fan on what to look for. Show them what we love about the sweet science.

Think of yourself as an art critic. You know what to look for in a work of art and you are trying to educate the person without the artistic eye.

take the Tyson/Mcbride fight several years ago. i kept telling casual fans not to purchase it because there was a great fight on HBO that same night. Cotto/Abdulaev was a great match-up and a much better product to promote the sport. I ended up recruiting 2 new boxing fans because of it.

Promote what you love about the sport...trash talking isn't it.

If Haye sign for the fight with Wlad, he will be ko´ed by Wladimir and after this fight nobody will talk about David Haye.

I see what your saying my friend, but the last time I did that I turned a couple guys away from it who liked boxing, but loved the UFC. I put on the Wlad/Iggy fight last february hoping for a special fight, figuring it was the last unification fight in 9 years. What I got was 2 scared fighters posing, one being no more than 6'0 220 maybe, and a giant at 6'6 240 throwing just a jab and rarely throwing a right hand becuase he's afraid of being countered. How do you expect me to try and sell a fight like that? My friends were as bored as I was, I was embarrased for my sport that night and didnt help my friends made ignorant comments all night, calling both men pussies, claiming UFC fighters have more balls to mix it up, etc...
I turned up the volume to shut them out, but all I got in return was something not much better, Max Kellerman's lame ass opinion and his wlad nuthugging ways.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, the sport needs both, trash talk and fighters who display the skills needed to satisfy us real fight fans. I personally like both, I dont think theirs anything wrong with two fighters trying to promote a fight threw words and what not. They have to do something to stop the young people from jumping on the UFC bandwaggon, a Tyson like figure would do wonders.

No there is more to boxing than the knockout. If I only wanted to see KO's I wouldn't watch boxing I'd just look on youtube for highlight reels. There is a balance between a fight being over quickly and a 12 round fight that doesn't catch the imagination. Its not one or the other.

Same goes for the Haye/Wlad vs Rahman situation....Wlad fights Rahman and according to his nuthuggers here it is a great win over a man who beat the great Lennox Lewis. This is true but he was a different fighter back then.He quit on his stool against Toney.Haye was crucified for mentioned the name of Rahman because he said he'd beat 2 top 10 guys?!:huhIt doesn't mean he owes anybody to fight 2 top 10 ranked HW's especially when he is going straight for the top man in the division.Same old double standards
