Wladimir has had 58 pro fights. Was Ibragimov a stinker? Absolutely.
Has Haye not had his share of boring fights?

You know, Wladimir threw something like DOUBLE the number of punches against Ibragimov, as Haye did against Valuev.

 

Yeah sure they will all be exited about a guy who just won a huge fight and retired. If by some miracle he does win and continues fighting he might bring some interest but not much. No one is watching boxing in US and it is only getting worse since new generation will most likely be watching UFC. Another problem with boxing is that classes are way to expansive and safety at all cost parents will not allow new generation of young boxers to grow up.

 

Who gains from Wlad and Vitali dominating? Just them and their biased fans. Boxing inevitably suffers whereas K2 Promotions thrives. It's selfish, greedy and, sadly, destructive.

I didn't say he hadn't. The point is, the Ibragimov fight was Wlad's chance to show he is the dominant champion to all of the world and he blew it.

Are you saying that if Wladimir continues on for 3-4 more fights, retires with something like 20+ title defenses and around 17 straight victories, that he won't be thought of as a dominate champion because of one fight against Ibragimov? I just don't believe that. Maybe delayed it, but not blew it.

 

I think it can do a ot for the heavy division in America. I can the Americans taking to haye a lot easier than they do the Klits.

Wlad vs Iggy was about 10x more exciting than Haye vs Valuev.
If Haye did not kill his international appeal with that fight than neither did Wlad.

Haye vs Valuev is probably THE most boring fight i ever suffered through.

there is not a 3-4 inch height difference between haye and wk. if wk is 6'6" then haye is only 6'1".

Nope, Americans never heard of Haye.
It will only be interesting to hear that a Klitschko lost... but only for a moment.

Americans will only care about the heavyweight division if an exciting American heavyweight wins a title.
Plus, boxing's popularity in America was decreasing during Lennox's reign, not afterward. After Evander and Tyson lost to Lennox, heavyweights become irrelevant (no one cared for Byrd, and few cared or knew of Brewster), and they still are irrelevant here.

 

It would be good or the division in general, but will not happen, I smell a mismatch, he talks the talk but will not walk the walk against a bigger and more experienced fighter of pure heavyweights.

 

That's why I wrote "at least one, better yet two of these conditions have to be met". Show me one non-American (based) fighter who became popular stateside without fighting in the U.S.!
