If Dawson could man up and move down in weight, why can't Alvarez?

Hatton was a 140 fighter who came up. Mayweather did NOT prove he was the top welterweight in 2007, having not fought Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, Williams and a Pacquiao who was at 135 on his way to 147 - instead he retired to come back and fight a lightweight

So he "ducked" a lightweight to go fight a lightweight?

Let me just ask you this...

Who, at the end of 2007, do you think was the highest ranked WW in the opinions of both the media publications and the vast majority of the public?

Who among those guys you named at that time had a better claim to being the top WW than Floyd?

Floyd's is a title holder at 154 lbs and has fought at that weight twice, Nothing wrong with Canelo challenging Floyd Mayweather Jr to a unification fight.

Floyd Mayweather should vacant his 154lbs title if he does not plan to fight there again.

This might be the greatest to-the-point post I've read in days...

The *****s and their excuses.

Floyd is a champion at 154lbs. So is Canelo. A fight at 154 makes sense. If Floyd would of not fought ever again at 154lbs after ODLH, and decided to stay at WW, you'll have a point. Fact is, Floyd saw Cotto take some beatings and way past it and decided to move up to 154 to fight Cotto. Then brag about moving up without catchweights to fight the "champion". Well, Canelo is the lineal champion, why not repeat the feat? Why.is weight now a concern for the *****s? Floyd himself has never said anything about fight night weights, why do his cheerleaders take so much concern?

I haven't seen the *****s complain about Floyd dragging Hatton and Marquez up to WW. Or did Floyd move to their weight to fight them?

Chad was 175 the day before the weigh in.His trainer at the time has said on this very forum that he was 182 on the Monday.
It might be about the fact that Chad didn't train properly to get down because he had a yes man as an S&C specialist.
But Chad is an absolutely ridiculous example for this debate.

Why would Canelo want the 147lbs crown?
Besides Mayweather "IS" a Jr. Middlewight champion. :huh

He's calling out someone who's a champion in his weightclass. Why should he move down?

For crying out loud, *****s, you can't pick and choose when you're man is a 154 champion. Either accept the fact that he cherry picks when fighting up there and you don't want no part of legitimite 154 pounder, or you can welcome what's no doubt an excellent fight for both guys.

Dawson lost, although the weight does not control handspeed and he was going to lose anyway.

Vacate or fight him imo, if he came out and said something along the lines of being too small as his age to fight at 154 and vacated his title I don't really think anyone could legitimately say anything bad about it (of course people still would) but if he doesn't who else is there who is worth fighting?

IF Floyd hands Canelo the belt I'm sure Golden Boy will call off the dogs.
(Alvarez will relinquish the belt anyway... :think Ducking Mayweather = Another win for Floyd)
