In this time of opponents dropping out through injury, imagine Paul Smith got injured and FW was prepared to take a gamble to keep the show. I think Degale, even at his novice stage, would win in a fight against one of our weaker British Champs. You would not put Saunders in against Barker, Small or Brook, or not put Gavin in with Daws yet though
I thought of this today cos DeGale next year he wants C'Wealth or British. He can beat Dodson, Quigley, Smith etc UNLESS he can't handle a tough pro fight and just caves in ala Harrison. At the moment, after 4 rounds he'll see how a fight isn't talent based anymore. Things get a little tougher, you get cornered, body shots take effect, accumulative damage takes its toll etc etc etc Quigley showed v Dodson he can take a little whooping and then put the guy away. Groves must want to feast on the current crop as well. No one is remotely world class at present.
I hear deagle and bellew were sparring how did it go? also i think deagle could beat both smigga and quigley right now in a 8 round fight
To be honest I thought wtf when I read the thread title but it does make sense. DeGale is a real class act with experience and Quigley although a decent fighter is still only at the start of his career too. Hopefully DeGale gets to move along well in his career.
