I think Witter would give him the same southpaw issues that Pacquaio, Collazo, Magee gave him. Out of those men he's the second fastest, second hardest hitting and maybe the trickiest. IMO there would have been no Mayweather/Pacquaio bouts if Hatton faced Witter, so he probably did the right thing ducking him

I actually think Witter would've beaten Hatton.

Your observation may have been a intersting one if it weren't for the fact the some of the greatest trainers and fighters who fought, trained and witnessed first hand all of the best boxers from the 1920's-1970's praise Dempsey as one of the greatest fighters they ever saw. The observations and opinions of people like Tunney, Schmeling, Langford, Stillman, Arcel should weigh heavily when contemplating Dempsey's talent level.

V, not to belabor this subject, the above website you post should be REQUIRED reading for all on ESB. I had read this a while ago,and his thoughts were the SENTIMENT of old timers, boxers, trainers, who told me as a youngster ,how feared Dempsey was prior to his 3 year layoff. It is nice V, to hear I'm not alone...Thanks.

Not impressed with you now Suzie, and that is sad because I used to be...

Well, if that is you own chosen few then let me give you what one of THEM thought.

The Great Sam Langford said Jack Dempsey was the greatest fighter he ever saw.. when asked who he thought would win between Jack Dempsey v Harry Wills he replied...

Sam Langford, when asked how Harry Wills (whom he fought 18 times in his career) would do against Jack Dempsey, said in the June 5, 1922, Atlanta Constitution "Well if he ever fights Dempsey my money will be on the present champion. Dempsey is the greatest fighter I have ever seen. He hits twice as hard as Jim Jeffries and is as fast in the ring as James J. Corbett."

    I Have An Agenda

Very rich coming from a guy whose wrote around 4 - 5 , 50 sentence post about how great Dempsey is, your the one with an agenda to try and point out how Dempsey is so amazing.

If you think for one second that Dempsey is the greatest heavyweight in history, then you don't have a clue what your talking about,

Jack Dempsey was a great fighter but he had many flaws as fighter how anyone would pick Dempsey to win against - George Foreman, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Sonny Liston, Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier, Evander Holyfield - is beyond me.

So Dempsey gained more from taking on fighters who LOST to Greb?

Don't get me wrong; I'm not particularly a fan of Dempsey's. But consider:

Sometimes, it does make more sense to fight a heavier fighter, even when he lost to a lighter guy. Remember how Hearns was the WBA lightheavyweight champ in the late 80's/early 90's? Imagine one of the other lightheavyweight beltholders challenging Sugar Ray Leonard because he'd beaten Hearns as a welterweight. It would be ridiculous.

(Admittedly, Greb was MUCH better against heavyweights than most "lighter" fighters, but still...)

As in the Godfather movie :" just as I was ready to leave, you pull me back in again ". Music please...
The fighters that Greb beat were in Dempsey's weight class...
Read Volkerman's website above. Do U good. And take 2 aspirins. You'll feel better in the morning. :hi::hi:

seem beyond you to even make a case, all you can do is repeat others opinions, its beyond you to justify Jack being the best ever based on his record or abilities

you got nothing to go on
