If Deontay clearly beats Fury his resume instantly becomes clearly better than AJs

With a win over fury wilder would become the only person with a win over the last true unified hw champ in Tyson fury and would also have a win over the most avoided man in the hw division.... Luis Ortiz.

Joshua’s win over Wlad would become invalid since fury beat a fresher version of wladamir. AJs next best win is Joseph Parker and that win continues to dwindle in value.

    Simple math boys.

Tough match up though. Fury is awkward as hell. Let the best man win.

Fury is a toughhh match up.. I don't get why Wilder always takes these extremely tough fights. I would have far preferred him to fight Povetkin over Ortiz but we know Pedvetkin wanted no parts of him. Wilder pulled through but that was a dangerous fight to take. Now he fights an extremely awkward switch hitter.

He wouldn't be beating the Fury that beat Wlad in Dusseldorf though. He'd be fighting the guy last seen kissing Sefer Serferi...

    No it wouldn't.

When Joshua beats Povetkin he has still more depth to his resume than Wilder.

    Wilder 5 best wins

    1. inactive (potentially Seferi version) Tyson Fury
    2. Luis Ortiz
    3. Bermane Stiverne I
    4. Johann Duhaupas
    5. Gerald Washington

    Joshua 5 best wins

    1. inactive (in top shape) Wladimir Klitschko
    2. Alexander Povetkin
    3. Joseph Parker
    4. Dillian Whyte
    5. Carlos Takam

It would get closer but Joshua would still have the better resume.

Yep unless Fury looks like his old self and beats Pianeta in such impressive fashion that people think he's 100%, which might not even be possible, people will just say he beat a shot or ring rusty Fury and they would be right.

This is why Hearn wanted Fury to beat some decent guys before facing Joshua, he wanted the fight to be bigger than it currently is. Beating the Fury who beat Seferi won't impress anyone but fanboys.

That's like saying Berbick's resume trumps Foreman's, because he did beat Ali.

Got to say, am impressed that Wilder took the Fury fight! It's a mouthwatering fight for sure.

And I agree it would put Wilder as the man to beat should he win. It's a dangerous fight for both men and I can see both of them winning. My gut feeling is Wilder will win by KO though.

Wilder's supposed to get credit for beating an inactive post drug recovery Fury? Lol.

It wouldnt but it doesnt matter cuz Resume Shezume. Comparing 2 lists of names tells you some things but actually getting them to fight tells you the answer to what you really want to know.

If the fight actually happens end of this year, Wilder will be facing 60-70% at best the same Fury that beat WK, by which time AJ would have likely added Povetkin to his resume in only his 22nd fight so no, Wilders resume will not be better, but rather more comparable.

Not sure you can call that first exhibition match against a guy half his size as "activity".

Didn't know about Pianeta, I thought this was happening next. Anyway, Pianeta is a bum too. Call me back when Fury fights a half decent guy.

If Fury looks absolute trash against Pianeta, then no I don't think it does.
