How would this partnership have worked out?

Roach loves aggressive knockout artists. Would he have allowed Wilder to get away from the technical mistakes he made and made sure he was disciplined in the gym ie following instructions, improving his technique, foot work, setting up the knock outs better?

Roach certainly would not have been the Ass kisser that Malik Scott turned out to be.

Roach would have made some money but probably would have quit in frustration.

Freddie had too many fighter's already including Pacquiao, so Wilder most likely would've been put on the backburner, so I don't see their partnership going anywhere.

Wilder still wouldn't have listened, still would've been basic.

Still would've skipped leg day

When you have a guy who's basically untrainable, it doesn't make all that much difference who you get to train them.

Sometimes the student is just bad regardless of how great his teacher might be. I don't think anybody could have gotten Wilder much further than he ultimately got.

If a special-ed student is taught by Einstein does he become a genius?

You can't train a chin. Wilder could have Freddy Roach, Emanuel Steward, Eddie Futch AND Ray Arcel in his corner and his mandible would still be just as fragile as it was when Nichols and Sconiers put him on the canvas early in his career and when Fury and Zhang starched him more recently.

It doesn't matter who your trainer is unless you are willing to listen to them.

Wilder didn't listen to his coaches....................it doesn't matter who coached him the result would've been the same. His ego and character ruled his career.

Stop with Wilder and this trainer or that trainer. Wilder did not want anything else but a yes man.

Wilder hit a level and never progressed. Now he is shop-worn, older and has slipped.

Maybe that level is all he had?

For whatever reason, he learned some basics but never really took it beyond that.

I don't think another trainer would matter.

For the record, we could be having this conversation about other fights, probably most of them.

I’m fan of Roach and his training style but unfortunately you’re right, Wilder is untrainable and won’t listen or do the necessary training that’s needed to be a top fighter. It wouldn’t have mattered who trained him.

Wilder had a Olympic, World and WBA champion in his corner. Then he had his LDBC homie and certified scuba diver Malik Scott. Zero difference.

Wilder could have had a traffic cone as his trainer. He would have been the same old windmill.
