Realspitts....if JMM looked real impressive next week and destroyed Diaz, would you make him #1??Atleast for the time being anyway until Pac has a chance vs Hatton to correct it??

Hatton would be the best in the world ... and Vic Darchinyan and Ivan Calderon isn't too far behind.

I read that Calderon might be fighting Cesar Canchila ... who beat Giovanni Segura last year.

A win over a skilled Canchila and losses to Pacquiao and JMM would solidify Calderon's p4p status.

I don't like Darchinyan but what this man is doing is special ... and if the top 2 p4p fighters in the world lose and Darchinyan gets a fight against Vasquez and wins ... then he's top 2 or 3 p4p by years end.

I don't care for Hopkins ... he needs to retire and open the door for a future p4p fighter.

Hatton should be #1 p4p if he beats Pacquiao ... he only has 1 loss and thats to the former p4p king and beatin the current p4p king solidifies his spot atop the p4p's elite.

i think alot has to do on the performances. even tho pacman is #1, there is a case jmm is #1 also or should of been, but the fact remains pacman is. so basing this on facts, i just go with the old formula to be the best you gotta beat the best, no ands, ifs, or buts. alot of haters live in the past and will bring up past fights which have nothing to do with a fighters current status. if hatton steamrolls over pacman convincingly, then he's the best imo. if diaz beats jmm, then he should take jmm's place or be alittle lower in the top 10. i can see diaz beating campbell in a rematch even though nate beat him in a close fight, but nate was the clear winner. nate being inconsistent makes me alittle doubtful of him

that's not what i said, but with calzaghe gone, hatton beating pac and jmm losing he would have as good a shout as anyone. he would have beaten a p4p #1, a p4p #3, a p4p #8 and only lost once to p4p #1 pbf. that's an excellent resume and if all the fighters in the top 10 were fighting at 140 i would favour hatton to beat them, if he has it in him to beat pac very convincingly. what's so funny about that?

hopkins would have a shout too but he's coming off of a loss to calzaghe as well and other losses in the past.

I'll see a scenario where Calzaghe will unretire to lay claim for the top spot. It would have been just 3 months since his announcement of his retirement so perhaps he can still reclaim his former position, thus elevating himself to the No.#1 spot due to a loss by Manny. I'm sure JC will then reanounce another retirement after some weeks of savoring the top position wihout fighting anyone...

As much as I like Hopkin's win over Pavlik, I cannot say he is the best in the world. And JMM cannot be near the best by just beating Diaz, so if he loses to Diaz that wouldn't change things for me. Pacman is far ahead of JMM. If Hatton beats Pacman, I suppose it would go to Hatton.

Since we are sort of on the subject, I think JMM is in for a surprise. Probably not against Diaz, but something tells me he is going to have a hard time making it in the higher weights. I just do not see the skill level there. Pacman is another level all together.

So basically what your saying is its not who you beat or how many you beat but just who you fight and where you fight.

A good example of this is people talking about Hopkins as the P4P guy when he has lost half of his last 6 fights. When did boxing become less about winning and more about getting the big money making fights?.
