    I dont think anyone is saying Ding didn't have a great year, but a LOT of boxers have had a great year, including champions and top p4p guys... so it's just a bit of a stretch to say he's a fighter of the year this year even if he get's a belt...

    if he got a belt this year then had a few unification fights in 2008... well, he would definately be a candidate for fighter of the year of 2008 based on that.

    It has nothing to do with kissing ass, he's turned his career around and I'd have noted that even if he did not post here.

    Bumdomir was fighter of the year last year, he won a belt no less but lost in embarassing fashion also. The reason he was FOTY was because he turned a journeyman/gate keeper career into being a top level fighter and also a titlist.

    Darnell's case would be similiar if he KO's another contender this year and I mean a real ranked guy, a complete career turn around. No belt yet, but 3 big wins after where he was headed would be serious and it would amount to 5 straight KO's and would give him one of the best CW resume's in terms of recent victories.
