    he would have been the biggest threat to Golovkin, and possibly one of the most relevant fighters in boxing. It is too bad that an injury prematurely ended his career, because he was a force and at 20-0 (15 ko's), he was entering his best years. It's interesting to think how different the storyline in boxing could have been if he had been active the last 4 years.

    160lbs would definitely look a lot different for sure. Pirog was a bad dude a shame that his career was cut short.

    If he had still been on the scene they would have already fought.
    Pirog was supposed to fight Golovkin next, but the injury prevented that.

    Man, many Americans would have hated the winner of that fight :lol:

    We would have had a great fight back in 2012, but unfortunately Pirog got injured and never recovered... A true "slickster", master of shifting like GGG, i think Golovkin's power would have got to him for a mid to late stoppage... By far the two most talented MWs of recent years...

    From the moment I saw Pirog, I thought of him as the MW future. What a loss to the boxing world. A "slick, white" guy.

    His style is the exact style I feel would foil Golovkin, and he had
    all the attributes to pull it off.

    Pirog was a very good fighter. He could actually box too.

    It was an impressive knockout , Yes .

    But Ive seen alot more brutal savage KOs compared to that one .

    Way back when Golovkin was first able to move to the US, I favored Pirog because of his discipline. In retrospect though, even if he was healthy enough for their 2012 fight to come off, I believe Golovkin would stop him mid to late. Pirog didn't like a few of Maciel's body shots so I have little doubt that Golovkin would have been able to hurt him badly there as well.

    Loeffler says the Pirog-Golovkin fight was on before he fell out. So it would've happened which would have been glorious.
