As a lightweight Duran would be the best around. There isn't anyone around that is going to be a hall of famer. His biggest chalanges would come from Broner and Gamboa both super featherweights. He really didn't compete as a light welterweight. This makes it hard to gage. It's usualy a division lightweights pass or make a pit stop. On their way to welterweight. I think Marquez could beat him. At welterweight a Pacquiao bout is interesting. They are about even on offense, but Duran is better on defense. I think that's the diffrance in the bout. I think Bradley has the skills to frustrate Duran, but dose he have the power to bother him? I thought that was the issue going into his bout with Pacquiao. A fight that was very close in my opinion. At 135, 140, 147, 154, 160 or any weight they might fight Mayweather would be a nightmare for Duran. Light middleweight is a pretty good division right now. Mayweather beats hiom easily at any weight. I don't see anyone that he rolls over. I'd pick Cotto, Alvarez, Lara and Martinez (@ 154) over Duran. I think he beats Kirkland and Bundrage. Trout and Molina are 50/50 fights. Duran would not do very well at middle weight. Consdering that after beating Barkley he lost to Leonard who in his previous bout drew with Hearns, a lot of people fell Hearns won that fight. He than lost to Pat Lawlor. In other words Duran was never a great middleweight. Martinez, Golovikn and Quillin would destroy him.
I'll bet on Duran if he was against Mathysse, but what I'm saying here is. . . An upset is a possibility.. :hey Ernesto Marcel who fought who? :huh Hiroshi Kobayashi who fought who? :huh Ken Buchanan who fought who? :huh Carlos Palomino who fought who? :huh Hey, I'll ask you about what you think of Chris John? Undefeated and a long time world champion.. You think he would beat Lopez? Gamboa? Garcia? Salido? I'll even pick Donaire over him.. And SRL who fought a wrong game in his off night.. :bart
Leonard who fought the wrong fight in his off night.. :bart I'd pick Prime Pacquioa over that SRL.. :deal Martinez would hammer Duran at middleweight.. It might end faster than Hearns.. :smoke
Never said he didn't, and I respect the **** out of Duran as a fighter. He's an ATG. He's just not the GOAT, he's not even the GOAT LW, and NOTHING about his resume suggests that he is other than one single fight on one single night, when SRL lost his mind because of the **** Duran said about his wife. It's Duran's ****ing machismo character that boxing fans fall in love with, and I can't ****ing stand it. If you man-love him because he's your idea of an ultimate fighter, fine. That's exactly how I feel about MAB and EM, but I don't go around trying to claim that MAB is the best jr. fw in history (even though he actually is).
Duran was a great fighter, but he was beat by ALL the greats of his time... Imagine a very good fighter today losing to all the top guys of today, beating one of them one time,to only lose the rematch...
Duran over 147 would have problems with top fighters of this or any era. He was great at lighteight, and had one great victory (first Leonard fight) at welter. Carlos Palomino froze and held, and Duran fell apart in second Leonard bout. Hearnrs destroyed him, but I think that was at 154? I will say this, if there were 3 or 4 belts in each division back then, and as much a demand for 140 and 154 pound divisions Duran, and others like him would have something like 12 title belts.
Try working on your reading comprehension. I said that I WOULDN'T expect a fighter in his 30s, with 70 fights and 12 years as a pro to routinely beat ATGs who are bigger and younger than him. That it would be unreasonable to do so. Hence why I cut him slack for NOT doing that. I was going to give detailed answers to these, but you probably know nothing about the era and the names will be meaningless to you. The same way that 40 years from now people will wonder why anyone would make a big deal out of someone beating Zab Judah or Maidana. So, never mind. (Seriously, if you don't put any stock in the name of Carlos Palomino, listing his accomplishments and who he beat isn't going to mean anything.) Haven't seen enough of John to say. Yes, because we all know that Sugar Ray never fought aggressively. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usugXyL_ApE[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY5RZgABDp4[/ame] Not ever. :blood Congratulations, you just became too dumb to be worth talking to. Later.
Zab Judah? - Tszyu made him do the chicken dance.. While Tszyu lost to Hatton who got knocked-out by Floyd and Manny.. - Lost to Baldomir who got beaten by Floyd with his "run and gun" , - Lost to Floyd.. - Stopped by Cotto.. While Cotto was brutally stopped by Margarito and Pacquioa and lost decisively to Mayweather.. - Lost to Clottey.. - Lost to Khan who got stopped by Garcia.. - Arguably lost to Mathysse.. Maidana? - Got beaten by Khan.. - Got out-boxed by Alexander who Bradley beaten easily.. While Bradley received a gift decision against Manny because he won 1 convincing round.. - Almost got beaten by Morales who is coming from a long lay-off.. Can't you still see it? Duran lost to the top fighters of his era.. He's just lucky to fight SRL in his off night.. :deal I pick Manny to beat that SRL.. Prime vs Prime.. I pick SRL but I give Manny a decent chance.. This is the highlights of SRL.. This should tell us what SRL is capable of.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8INHy35zWg[/ame] 0:22 - Fast 1-2 combination.. His target is just approaching in a straight direction.. 0:37 - Full swing on a barely moving target.. Why was his opponent so tentative? :huh 1:10 - Strong powerful combinations.. His opponent was just standing in front him.. 1:24 - Combinations on the head of a barely moving boxer.. 1:28 - 1-2 combination.. We know why he was able to land it.. :deal 1:32 - 1-2 combination.. First one missed because his opponent weaved.. 1:35 - 1-2 combination.. Second one missed because his opponent weaved again.. 1:47 - Shows he is fast on his feet.. Then he lands a right to the body that would hurt anyone even behind his guard.. 2:09 - Ultra fast hand speed! :yikesHe was able to do that in front of a standing opponent.. 2:35 - He is really looking for the kill.. Again, his opponent is really slow with his feet.. 2:51 - He's just tough.. But opponent moving right straight to him.. 3:13 - Hard right.. Again, barely moving opponent.. 3:18 - He almost missed it against an opponent who slowly moves backward! atsch 3:24 - He lands again against a standing opponent.. 3:31 - Devastating combinations.. Again, opponent not moving! 3:40 - Was that a punching bag? :huh
He'd clear up. Broner, Burns, DeMarco and Vasquez all get stopped at lightweight. Move up to 140 and dominate Garcia, Peterson, Rios and Khan - only JMM would pose a threat and I think that could be a great fight before going to 147 and beating the **** out of Bradley, Pacquiao, Alexander and Paulie. Once he gets to 154 I think things would get tougher for him but I'd still favour him over Floyd and Lara, even though they would be much closer fights than the ones from 135-147. He'd ****ing batter Canelo, Cotto, Kirkliand and Molina though. At 160 I'd pick Martinez to beat him, and possibly GGG.
Lot of ******ed comments on this thread. I particularly enjoy the ones painting Duran - Bradley as a 50-50 fight. Good grief
