how does the series go...This is just a normal duran.. taking into account is perpencity to be up and down for fights. As a side note.. Does Montreal Duran beat Bennitez pretty much everytime or does El Radar still come out on top regardless.
Let's go by the year, with a weight limit. With a realistic goal in mind, like it could have been. 1976 - 140 lbs. (For the WBA Light-Welteweight Championship) 1977 - 140 lbs. (For the WBA Light-Welterweight Championship) 1978 - 144 lbs. (10-Round non-title bout) 1979 - 147 lbs. (For the WBC Welterweight Championship) 1980 - 147 lbs. (For the WBC Welterweight Championship) 1981 - 150 lbs. (For the WBC Light-Middleweight Championship) 1982 - 152 lbs. (Wilfred Benitez defeated Roberto Duran over 15-Rounds in January 1982) 1983 - 154 lbs. (For the WBA Light-Middleweight Championship) 1984 - 154 lbs. (For the WBA Light-Welterweight Championship)
Benitez 3-2. Movers don't really bother Duran. An ATG defensive fighter who is not bad on offense and natural bigger might.
They might swap fights, I`d take Montreal or Palomino Duran over Benitez at 147 every time, can`t see Benitez outlaning that version of Duran tbh... I`d probably give Benitez the edge more often than not at 154 vs Duran.
Lighter weights: Duran Heavier weights: Benitez pretty elementary if you ask me. I still think Roberto could win 2 @ 154
July 1979 WBC Welterweight Championship Panama City at the Gimnasio Nuevo Gym Roberto takes Wilfred into the hot deep waters of the Panama heat, and an exhausted and body battered Benitez cannot come out for Round 13.
Both at their peak Id take Duran. Its a tough style and Duran would have to work very hard to break down Benitez to the body. At his best its the most likley result. If they fought 5 times its hard to say because we know Duran could be inconsistant at the higher weights but so could Benitez. He had disipline problems of his own.
Duran needs excellent legs and stamina to win vs Benitez. If he's really prime, and he has them, I think he wins. Always a tough, tough match for Duran.
