Malik had to say he was "reminding" Wilder rather than than teaching so Wilder wouldn't get mad.

If it was early in Wilder's career then yes Steward would have done wonders for Deontay.

Keep in mind Wilder wasn't always so full of it. His transformation to his current state was around 2017, two years into his championship reign.

No. Wilder have gigantic gift with his explosive power and very good size (211 cm reach and legit 201 cm height) + he is quiet quick for soo big dude but...
Same time he got pretty bad ability to learn new thing. You think Breland or even Scott dont try learn him how to use jab more effective? How to use strenght in clinching? How to use his footwork?
    He just dont learn.
He is this one kid in class who always pass exam because he is pretty smart but he is nothing near to beat ones who actually learn also.

You can have best teacher but You must be able to learn. Wilder wasnt.

He actually looking good on training with Scott. Its looks like he for sure try learn Wilder smth. But he can try. End of the day in fight Wilder comeback to his habit and just wait with full force like trebuchet. Big right hand try again and again.

He is talent 4 on 6 scale.
    On scale 1-10 probably 6,5 max 7.

Wilder being trained by Steward of course could have been a ATG.

However Wilder needed to as i was 'advised' by a very shouty man in my recruit training, "You have two ears, but only one mouth. Use them in that proportion" (he might have said that in a more forceful manner).

Sadly Wilder was not one for listening to anyone, and that would have included Mr Steward.

Better trainers almost invariably get more out of fighters and Steward could have got more out of Wilder. Particularly too if they had formed a good working partnership.

I don't know about now but I remember a time when Wilder was an exceptionally hungry-to-improve fighter who worked his butt off trying to gain the most experience possible in sparring and learn from other fighters, past and present. But the thing is this: He can always try, but ring thinking is not his talent. It reminds me of Steward training Jermain Taylor. Who was far smarter than Wilder, in terms of his boxing, but Steward saw the talent, and Taylor would say 'Yes, sir' and go out fully waiting to execute Steward's advice...but he still couldn't. He couldn't keep it in his head and execute the game plans and tricks at the same time. Not his thing. Just not ring smart enough. You either have that or you don't, no different than punching power or speed. You can try. You can even be a bright guy in other areas, but if you don't have that ability to think in the ring, you can work as hard as anybody, and with the best people to ever do it, and it just doesn't matter that much, normally. Every once in a while you get a one-off McCall/Lewis, when it does, but generally, nothing. Most of this is aimed at the OP, btw. To you, I'm just saying Wilder may not be the same now as he was once, in terms of just wanting yes man and not out to be better.

Wilder didn't lack a quality trainer. He lacked ambition.

With the right timing he could have beaten AJ, Fury and Usyk but didn't pursue any big fights until the Fury rematch which was like 5 years after his title victory.

I think he started too late but he's not as bad as everybody here says, a nuclear right hand is his best asset but you can't be champ with some defences off of JUST that. He's a spazzz in the ring but took fury the distance twice so he did SOMETHING else surely. Unless GK was shot by then already. Not a Wilder fan at all.

Wilder could have had Ray Arcel, Eddie Futch AND Emanuel in his corner and he still would have been a talentless can-crusher!

Hearns could box and fight. Wilder cant do either of those things. He has a straight right hand - that is all. Wilder is better compared to Randall Bailey or Darnell Boone. He was NEVER like Hearns or any other ATG.

Wilder couldve had Cus Damoto and Emmanuel Steward and Angelo Dundee and he never wouldve been an inch better. He was untrainable. He lost once and had a meltdown, fired his trainer, and scapegoated his loss onto his trainer, ancestral spirits, and conspiracy theories. Thankfully he was KTFO for good before being soundly outboxed because he was tired (more excuses).

Horrible person for saying he wanted to take a body because that really does happen in boxing. And a horrible attitude...

Wilder accused Breland of poisoning him. He's a classless punk.

His ignorance brought about his losses, KDs, and KO defeats.

    Good riddance

I forgot about that accusation. I'm fine with him sacking breland but to lob accusations like that Is classless
