If Emanuel Steward had trained Wilder, Do you think he could have been an ATG?

The ONLY reason it took so long is he was VERY carefully matched. He fought worse stiffs for longer than any rated fighter I can recall in 40 years of following boxing.

Five or six years and 30 fights or so into his career he was fighting guys like those that Mike Tyson was blowing out in his first 10. It's amazing people bought into this con job

I doubt Steward could have gotten Wilder to be any better than he was. He just doesn’t have the skill level required. He has power in his right hand and that is all. Besides he appears to be untrainable.

Only certain people bought into the scam. After Artur Pzilk embarased Deontay and his wild windmilling ways I never legitimately regarded him and realized his cherry ways, like you say

He'd be much improved but far from an atg.

A trainer can only bring out what's already within. Wilder never really came off the kind of guy who is or wanted to be an ATG. The best he could hope for is HOF level which is already a far cry above what he is now.

    A lot of huge ‘IFs’

I think Wilder would have had to have gone to Manny very young.

He’d also have needed to have committed himself 100%, where he’d have been willing to have taken everything onboard.

You’re talking about years of commitment.

    I think it’s highly unlikely.

His circumstances would have needed to have been completely different.

He would have needed to have been a different man, with a different outlook/personality etc.

Basically, a completely different person to the one that we know.

Depends what time Manny gets him? Also, a lot of what made Wilder what he was, was his unorthodox natural un-coached power.

Maybe if Emanuel kidnapped his daughter and forced Wilder to do as he said. Otherwise Wilder would get pissed at Emanuel for teaching him to box.
