JFE is already nearing HOF territory, has elite skills, been around a champ for ages and on some more knowledgeable P4P lists, but only really broke through in the Wangek rematch and never got the huge exposure post-HBO for it. His resume is very solid tho. Lost a tight to Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr. at 21, quickly avenged via KO. Lost close-clear to Chocolatito at 22, beat boatloads of names since (Viloria, Melindo, Mepranum, Segura, Asenjo, Marquez, Cuadras). Lost a debated to Wangek and avenged clearly. If he faces and defeats Choco who still has plenty left at 32, he's avenged all of his losses and sit in a unique position not even Clenelo or Loma can say. Where would that put Estrada P4P and regarding the small greats? Is he the JMM of this generation and the best, underrated Mexican boxer today?
He is underrated and the comparison with JMM is apt. Very smart technical fighter who is a joy to watch. I don't know if I like Chocolatito's chances in a rematch at this stage even with the performance from Yafai fight. Both are fighting a weight class higher than they should be. I would still like to see either of them in with SSR for a trilogy.
Yeah it's easy to slightly favor Estrada now. Choco's luck is while Estrada packs a mean punch if he has you well timed, he does not possess the KO power of Rungvisai, so it's likely a 12-round battle, unless one of them really leave an opening.
He needs to give sor rungvisia a rubber match who inexplicably fought the second fight completely stupid. Hard to see him beating the thai fighter when sor rungvisai actually fights southpaw and can hurt Estrada at will.
Agreed. There's no way SSR fights that stupidly in the third fight, which really needs to happen to determine who the better man is.
He needs to do no thing, he's not responsible for his "opponent fighting stupid". JFE could be 2-0, and after a razor thin result he's delivered a boxing masterclass. It's not even AJ-Ruiz with both having legit clear cut wins but much like Fury-Wilder where an upset in the 3rd is not impossible, but the better boxing winning more convincingly in each new outing highly probable. But sure, Rungvisai beats a champ, then say Ioka, he earns his 3rd fight. In the meantime, JFE and Chocolatito are actual titleholders, hence my thread about their fascinating rematch.
He beat Estrada convincingly in the first fight in my book. It was Estrada who came up with all the excuses to why he lost. Sor Rungvisia offered no excuse in the 2nd fight, but it was clear why he lost. Estrada needs to fight him again otherwise everyone will see the 2nd fight for what it was. The thai fighter fought orthodox and was ineffective, yet the moment he turned southpaw for a few seconds he would dominate and wobble Estrada. Then inexplicably turn back orthodox for no reason other than he looked like he wanted to lose.
Literally no one has underrated him as most people understand that he's an elite fighter and is a very tough matchup for anyone.
