Is there a particular reason they both can't be successful?

I don't think BJS has the power to keep Eubank off him at the moment. If they fought now it would be lack of power Vs lack of experience. They are both very young with plenty of time for improvement. Eubank needs to step up a couple of levels (from D-), BJS has stepped up, although not too emphatically.

I think he he looks pretty decent for his level of experience, the fact that knowledgeable guys like Froch and Booth agree says something. I don't know how far he can go yet, but at the moment there is no reason he can't become as successful as his father and I hope he does. I've always liked Eubank Sr and I like the fact that Jr has some similarities so I think it would be cool if he could become a success too. The more quality talent in boxing the better.

I remember all this sort of negativity around Eubanks Sr before he fought Benn, most people wanting Benn to smash him to pieces and saying he would be exposed as nothing more than a mouth on legs... If my memory serves me correctly Benn Vs Eubanks was billed as "who's fooling who?" ... Because of all the things Sr said before the fight.

Anyway, Junior has not done much wrong so far, he had a very short amateur career and turned over to the pro's with not much experience. He is being taken all over the place by his father and sparring top quality fighters and learning all the time. I think we will not know how good he can be or is until he is tested in a tough fight.

Sadly if Jr does struggle in any fight then people will start screaming "exposed" instead of "that was a great learning experience" that is the way it works now, it is all about the "0", young fighters are written off if they struggle or do not dazzle in every fight and that is sad because it is a vicious circle.

I believe young fighters are not willing to try new things, persist on something they are learning in the gym if it is does not work first time of asking or even box to orders because half way through the second round there are some boo's and somewhere in the backs of their minds they must be thinking about the social media abuse they will receive for not KO'ing any opposition quickly.

    Mini rant over...

As for Eubanks Jr I wish the young man all the best and hopes he goes on to achieve what he wants to, why wouldn't I? He is young, British and is trying to earn a living, I'm not that bitter or twisted to wish anything else.

I have absolutely no interest in fabled stories from sparring, no matter who is telling them - Froch dropping Groves hard, Golovkin handling Kovalev with ease, Travis Walker dropping Vitali, Lara battering Ricky Hatton, etc. I want to see the proof in the ring when it matters on fight night.

Eubank Jr has been doing well of late, but not so long ago he went life and death with Terry Caruthers and Bradley Pryce, so I'm not going to jump on the band-wagon just yet. I'd like to see him in with Etches, Ryder or BJS before passing a proper judgement either way, it is time his competition stepped up a little bit.
