Latin America's # 1 team sport is soccer. Yet, the lighter weight categories are largely dominated by Latinos. Therefore, football's popularity should never be a hindrance to the growth of boxing in any culture. As for the claim that the USA's best athletes are in other sports rather than boxing, that belief is mythological at best.

Those are just pussies who are trying to get any advantage to win the game, Im a big football fan but they just ruin the game for me. Its like looking at boxing and showing highlights of Uzzy Ahmed

Eric Cantona was sent off the pitch and then recieved racist abuse from a fan, he then ran into the crowd and performed a flying kick to his face and start beating **** out of him

America certainly has it's faults. But I swell with pride (literally and figuratively) at the general ambivalence towards soccer over here. And I feel that pride reenforced every time I hear some tank top wearing mustachioed hipster douche talk about how he loves 'the beautiful game, and has since, like forever'.

Ronaldo is too Metrosexual and vain to enter boxing. And there is a question to if he's tough enough. People like Rooney and Drogba would be good boxers.
