He's a grown up adult and he should be able to decide for himself. Free will is non negociable !

evander is just fine, hes been fight bums lately and he beat the russian giant.he might have retired if they did not rob him in russia.he would have gotten his old wba belt back.lost by ko fighting the klit bros or haye and then retired.hes not fighting anyone worth a damn threat even at his age.thats why hes still fighting, when they say the hw division sucks they mean it.hopkins might go to heavy and tarver is there as well so you know evander aint in no real trouble.

klits want fight him, and i dout haymaker would either.so whos left that can really make evander retire ? i dout he ever fights a sam peter or arreola.tomaz would beat him but like when he was beat by the south paw dude from russia.evander aint gone retire until someone retires him and 3 of the men that would want fight him so guess what ? evander is still fighting on.

I'd blame Holyfield and Holyfield alone. He knows the risks and he's a grown man. This is a free country, which means you're free to make bad decisions about your own future. The constitution says you have the right to pursue happiness. He won't harm another human by competing.

The sanctioning body however after sanctioning that fight they should be called a comedy troupe.

Holyfield needs to be focused on other things. Not beating himself into a further haze.

    it needs to stop.

i would rather see holyfield start a gym and pass on his knowledge to a younger generation than keep doing this to himself.

There would be no blame. Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield is a grown man who has to make a living like anyone else. This is how he chooses to do it. The Commissions have been cautious in granting him a license on a fight by fight basis. I would suspect that the refs in his fights are also very careful and watch him very closely.

  12. HIMSELF:deal THE dumb**** is close to 50, why keep getting smashed in the head for a living?? he should have retired after Toney whipped his ass 7 years ago...

Mostly Evander but also the various licensing commissions.

Because if Holyfield gets killed in the ring, it affects not only Holyfield but also the sport in general. Ring deaths are terrible business for boxing and hurt all other fighters, trainers, promoters, TV networks, etc.

Griffith/Paret III is a classic example. That tragedy was broadcast on television and ruined the sport's marketability for years. So yes, the commissions have an obligation to consider the welfare of the sport on a larger scale.

But mostly, this falls on Evander.

I feel the same way. I also think that if he continues to pass any and all tests put forth then the man should be allowed to earn. I mean lets face it if anything he is a physical marvel at his age.
