If he beat Mayweather there would be a rematch for sure and a 50/50 split.

I don't think Mayweather would like a rematch if ever Martinez would beat him.. That's just too much risk for his health.. :deal

No. Unfortunately for Martinez, he is pretty much screwed and cannot become a Cash Cow no matter what he does. The guy could savagely KO Chavez Jr., Floyd, and Pacquiao in a row and he still won't be a cash cow. That's what happens when DiBella promotes you and you don't have an Arum or a DLH giving you that promotional push.

Despite having a fun fighting style and being beloved by women and men alike :)lol: no homo), the facts that Sergio hails from Argentina (not exactly Mexico, Puerto Rico, Germany, or the Phillipines in terms of providing a built-in PPV audience), doesn't act like a jerk outside the ring to draw attention to himself and get people interested in buying his fight, and can't speak English are all promotional liabilities. That, and he's 37.

No matter what he accomplishes in the sport the next few years, unless he turns out to be nearly immune to aging like Hopkins did for awhile or George Foreman, every promoter will know there won't be much time to make any money off him, hence it wouldn't make sense to invest in him to try and make him into a draw in the first place.

I agree with you but. . . Its all "ifs" as of the moment.. We'll never know unless its done.. :hey

First, Martinez should start trying to speak in English, little by little.. And second he needs something controversial for media to make a hype out of him.. :deal

If Floyd is scared of a shorty Pac, he would not fight a bigger Martinez.

People will believe what they believe. People said he wouldn't fought Cotto, Shane, Ortiz... was scared of Hatton, etc., etc.

Anyway, Martinez would lose. He likes to fight in the middle of the ring, lacks a significant jab and is available to be hit. The only advantage he'd have is size and power, and whens the last time Floyd had a power advantage in the ring?

    Explain.

Who exactly are you refering to? Barker, a 6 foot 2, solid, big middleweight who fought scared with a high guard, controlled range intelligently, and still got knocked out.

When is the last time Floyd fought an opponent that met this description?

A much bigger, rangier, taller, defensive prone opponent with a solid jab.

Oh, that's right, he's never fought a guy that met this description in his entire career.

Barker still got knocked the **** out, and I don't think he did much to "expose" Martinez.

Of course an undersized guy like Martinez who prefers to counterpunch and fight on the outside, like Mayweather, will have problems with a guy that fits this description.

That's why Floyd Sr said Vernon Forrest would have given Floyd problems.

And what did Macklin expose? All Macklin did was show that Martinez has the patience to apply educated pressure, and still manage to knock his man out late, and not take many shots for his troubles.

So, I have to say, I disagree...

Martinez fights hands down, but it doesn't mean that he performs poor on mid-range.. And if they will fight, I'm sure Martinez will fight Mayweather on close range like what he did against Williams.. :smoke
