Everyone seems to be an expert and a critic. It seems that every boxer is either shot or is a bum. Are there any boxers that actually receive credit for just stepping between the ropes?

They should and I bet every single poster finds something admirable about stepping between the ropes for a sactioned fight. If not than what would be our reason for watching the sport?

    Mario Cawley is a bum.
    Arturo Gatti is shot.

Those aren't lies..but I give respect to every fighter that steps into that ring and puts up a fight. I may not agree with them fighting (Gatti) but they are some of the most courageous people out there.

I see what you mean though, but most of the animosity towards fighters comes because either:

    A) Their fighter lost, so they claim robbery, and try to take down the fighter who won.
    B) Their fighter won, and they are trying to rub it in to those who were percieved to "hype" up the fighter who lost in the weeks leading up to the fight.
    C) They are threatened by the possibility that somebody might be able to take down their favority fighter, so they try to tear them down.
    D) Just being ignorant assholes.

Now Mario Cawley on the other hand..I don't think anyone can argue with anything said about him..

Racist? Really? I'm English and although the British fighters get **** on a lot, I don't think it's because of their race. I think America in general doesn't accept anything different than what it knows. I think there is usually double standards and bias, but I wouldn't go as far as saying racist.

Maybe living in America you see it different from me though. Is the racist comment anything to do with the Morales decision or something?

    American's are just ****s, I suppose

Every fighter has my respect for stepping in the ring...a lot of people will never know that feeling and how much heart it takes to fight in there. But fan's have a right to call fighters "bums" - it's not right, but everybody should have freedom to say what they please. And calling fighters "shot" isn't a crime - it is true in a lot of cases. For instance, Arturo Gatti was one of my favorite fighters, but he is shot.

Part of what makes this sport great are the fans and the wide range of opinions and unique views each individual has

dumbest thread ever. thats the nature of the game, criticism. In the end, every fighter is respected for stepping between the ropes. It seems like one man seems very upset his favorite fighter has been tore apart on these forums. Every fighter can be criticized, but in the end we ALL respect ALL fighters. It's the nature of the history of the game, and it's fans. Like it or not, it's how it is, and always will be. If you don't like it, go watch another sport. Either way, that sport will carry the same criticisms for their athletes in an attempt to push them to their best and see how good they really can be under the utmost pressure. That's what they are paid for, and thats what we as FANS pay to see.

Well no, anybody can do that. You have to actually stay in there and do stuff with your hands to receive credit IMO, but then I tend to be a little harsh.

There's probably more British fighters in the HOF than there is American's, if you take in the size of the countries into consideration.

And boxing is a ****ing British sport. You say we suck at it - Mate, if it wasn't for British fighters, this forum wouldn't exist and we wouldn't be talking about it at all.

Read up on James Figg, Jem Belcher, Tom Cribb etc. and then right up to Sullivan. We were boxing for hundreds of years and we still produce a high amount of world champions considering how small Britain is.

Right now, we have Hatton, Calzaghe, Maccarinelli, Haye, Rees, Witter, Cook, Froch and Woods all in the top 10 in their weight class on The Ring. Two of those are in the P4P list. You have 5 times as many people as us, so that means you would have to have 40 American's in their own ranks and all 10 in the P4P list would ahve to be American.

Yes, America does have far more champions than us, but we produce more per person. If the IBHOF wasn't a load of nonsense, we'd maybe have more fighters in the HOF too.

Put simply, the UK is more important to boxing than America is.
When? In World War 2 or something, you mean?

And I like American's really. I do think a lot are over-opinionated, biased ****s though.
