If every fighter fought like Rigo or Lara, would anyone watch boxing?

I can't speak for everyone else, but I wouldn't watch boxing. I'd watch kickboxing, muay thai, and mma instead.

Floyd will actually lead when it's necessary. He knows how to bait fighters into coming forward and running into counters. It also helped later in his career that every opponent wanted to be the one to take Floyd's zero. So, often times, these guys were in the best shape of their lives and fighting their hearts out. There was prefight drama and sometimes in-ring drama. Many of his performances were more entertaining than Lara or Rigo. Rigo needs better opposition for one (Lara has fought several good fighters) and both these guys need some out of the ring personality to get people interested. They are already used to getting booed...captialize on the hate.

Yes, but there would be a big drop off in viewers. People want to see guys like Gatti or Provodnikov. They want action. They want exchanges. Battle.

Most fighters can't deliver this. Only the true entertainers can. Rigo is a great fighter but not a good entertainer.

You're an imbecile. This is what I'm talking about when people let groups think for them. They lose the ability to be an individual.

Get off your racist ass websites and think for yourself. Do all black fighters fight like Lara?

Do all white fighters fight like Gatti?

Now slap yourself for being so stupid and narrow minded.

    :patsch

And learn basic business sense so you have an idea of what a risk premium is. It's a simple concept.

That's great. There are other professions out there for them.

Life is all about risks. Just like if I were to hack a bank, I would be taking an enormous risk.

If I was a hedge fund manager looking at currency speculation, there are considerable risks associated with that line of work.

In this world, life is about taking risks. I agree with you that boxing is a brutal sport, but I'm making an observation that's merely a reality.

Personally, I don't care for boxing anymore because I don't want to see people take damage.

At the same time, I don't think a person that's not willing to take risks deserves as much credit as someone that lays it on the line. Most of the time, that's the way the world works.

Rigo has the potential to be a great entertainer too. Well, at least he had the potential. He's probably past his best now.

Lara doesn't bother me that much but Rigo is unbearable.

I reckon half the posters on here who say they enjoy watching him are just boxrec warriors who don't actually watch him and say it to pretend they are hardcore fans of boxing :thumbsup

Lara is OK. Rigo is just in a different league when it comes to unwatchability.

Rigo landed 74 punches in a 10 round fight he won...that's 7 punches per round. To compare, Gatti landed 7 punches per round against Mayweather in a fight he was completely dominated in.

That's how poor Rigo did on Saturday.
