A lot less fighters would retire with brain damage.

Isal you bring up a good point. What Mayweather does is NOT great boxing.. it is great defense. Jab and grab. Pot shot and stay out of reach.

Thank god some still have an offensive attack.

Hit and not being hit, that's what you do in boxing.

And a lot more watching people would develop it due to frustration, yelling at their tv's and such. Maybe even get aneurysms.

First two rounds of Audley vs Haye would be a good indication

Not everyone is going to be slick a pressure fighter a swarmer a slugger boxer puncher. Boxing has multiple styles learn how to appreciate all styles or find a new sport.

I believe in a yin and a yang. Nothing is worse than watching a toughman contest between two brawlers. I prefer to watch two skilled fighters that know what they are doing. My favorite fights are when a fighter with a good defense is going against a good offensive fighter. Fighters generally fight according to their ability and most would fight defensively and take less punishment if they could.

I've gone to boxing matches plenty of times and feigns foot work and traps double traps and slips with no more than ten punches throwna nd appreciated it
In the first minute,a feigns is to see what your opponents does so you can come back and take advantage does he drop his left, does he not move his feet, does he not react fast enough can fight going backwards,
There's a lot that people don't see when they watch boxing it ain't just a barn storm

That leaves very little margin for error for fighters who were not born with a lot of power. How is a guy like Paulie ever meant to win a fight under that kind of criteria? It becomes far too subjective. How many more clean shots does Paulie need to land in order to win a round? 3 to 1? 5 to 1? Against a guy like Matthysse it might be 10 to 1. It's just a guessing game under that criteria.

Not everyone COULD use an overly defensive style at world level.

Nor is it intrinsically the best (or every weight class would be dominated hy defensive fighters)

The boxers would use that style if they could, not everybody can that's the problem.

EDIT: The guy above me said it already.
