Depends, if he convincingly ****s him up and confirms he's as good as ever then #1 sure. If it's close, then there are other guys dominating good opposition to look at.

I think it's a difficult style match up for him, if he beats him easily then it really does confirm a lot.

Hard to displace him from number 1 really. His been fairly inactive but his resume speaks volumes about his quality as arguably the best MMA fighter ever. I love his character though. That guys just way too calm to be such a cerebral assasin..

I think his consistency is what will set him apart from A. Silva, GSP and Penn. Not consistency meaning, he's consistently fighting top fighters, but the fact that he is still yet to be beat and has fought some great competition. As far as skills go, BJ is better BJJ, GSP is better wrestling and Silva is better standing but he may be better at MMA then all of them, especially when you consider intangibles. Its tough, but I would keep him at #1 if he beats Silva.

This is tough cause the only reason I put BJ/Silva/GSP ahead of Fedor is cause of who they have beating. Fedor just wasnt fighting anyone now if he goes out and likely armbars a top 5-6 Heavyweight who can justify bringing him back to the top of the rankings.

Well he does have one loss on his record, however bull**** it is.

Silva and GSP are evolving fighters. Silva is fighting at a much higher plane than his last losses now and GSP's last loss was a bit weird. They're both clearly elite, but I don't know if they carry the unbeatable stigma that Fedor has always had for me. Anderson has looked amazing lately, but I did feel that if Henderson had stuck to taking him down and grinding out a dull decision then he could have won (maybe Lindland would be more discliplined doing that), and GSP did lose not so long ago.

So yeah, I think I'd just have him a slight notch above those guys. Assuming he doesn't show any signs of weakness against Big Dim.

He would still be #1 even though his comp hasn't been the best lately he still hasn't really tasted defeat.but I think how his fight against Tim turns out will be a factor. Penn\GSP\Silva appear to be cleaning out their divisions and fighting the best there is.

Its wild we can make a serious case for all 4. Fedor never did really lose his p4p status its just his inactivity vs high level fighters. If he goes in and armbars a 2 time Champ like Sylvia then hey thats a big win cause Sylvias ranked 5-6 depending on who u talk to. If he beats Sylvia then possibly Barnett-Rizzo winner or even better Randy Couture its hard to argue him being number 1.

barnett-rizzo match up does not account for anything... rizzo got dominated a couple years back by segei harutanov a guy who doesent even belong in the same ring as fedor... if fedor beats tim,,, and after that fights and beats randy he can pretty much retire as the greatest ever mma fighter... and i dont think theres any need to fight nougeira again... btw quite honestly i would pick nougeira over randy couture

Why? Sylvia has shown on more than one occasion just how limited he is, even in his standup.
