    I love this slugfest between Kinetic and JG! For what's worth, I think both have valid points. You aren't BORN boxing, so the skills are learned, but I do think power and speed are innate. As Kinetic says, though, there is nothing wrong with trying to improve all aspects of your game.
    For instance, Sugar Ray Robinson may have benefitted from strength training against Fullmer and LaMotta; not from a punching power point of view, but just to stop him being bulled around by them.
    Also, as Kinetic says, strength and power are related. Witness George Foreman; George's technique wasn't textbook, but he moved people with his brute strength. So, in theory, if you improve strength, you improve an aspect of power.
    In answer to the original question, the way to overcome your natural limitations is to fight according to them. Fight your fight, and do what the other guy hates; that's the beauty of boxing.

    Thanks, JG. I think it's a great topic to discuss because it seems to defy logic, punching power! It's like one of the black arts.
