If Floyd beats Canelo is it time to start ranking him with RJJ and Sweat Pea?

The paradox when comparing Mayweather to Hopkins is that Hopkins is only ranked ahead of Mayweather due to Hopkins not being as good as Mayweather.

I don't think this is a skills debate.

Canelo isn't accomplished enough for that kind of talk. He's a solid champion with a size advantage but wouldn't be among Floyd's top 5 wins. He beat Cintron and Trout and Lopez, old Mosley and old Baldomir. Decent but not that kind of resume enhancer by far.

I think FMJ is already ahead of RJJ. People seem to forget that Jones was a bit of a ducker and cherry picker himself. He pretty blatantly ducked Michalcewski, which, for awhile, was the most lucrative fight he could have made. He probably could have won, but was afraid of being robber by foreign judges.

Jones beating Ruiz is the equivalent of Mayweather beating Abraham or Steiglitz for a 168 lb belt?

I think low 20's for Jones Jr is steep. But he won't get ahead of Whitaker.

He'd almost definitely be ahead of Hearns. Not much more after that, though (I.E. No higher than the low 40's still).

13 years age difference and 20lb weight difference against a man many consider the future of the sport?

Floyd has no right to win that fight. It goes against all logic like Duran/Barkley

Roy at 36 was getting sparked left, right and centre and Pernell was basically retired

To roys defense, Michalczewski's name is only brought up because he didn't fight him. If he would have fought and schooled Michalczewski, Roy wouldn't have gotten props for that.

Jones abused two ATG's in Hopkins and Toney. Should have been 50-0 before he lost to Tarver. Jones is certainly in the upper echelon of ATG's. I wont hear any different.

Skills play a factor in determing who is better. Let's look at Hopkins. He beats a guy like Kelly Pavlik and everyone goes crazy. They go crazy because everyone expected Hopkins to lose. But why would so many people expect Hopkins to lose? Pavlik was coming up 2 divisions and was tailor made for Hopkins. Stylistically, Hatton was a tougher matchup for Mayweather than Pavlik was for Hopkins. Hatton was arguably a better overall fighter as well. So why is the Pavlik win seen as the better win? Simple, Hopkins is not as good as Floyd and therefore the betting public has less confidence in him.

I was amazed at how many people picked Cloud to beat Hopkins. Cloud is a glorified club fighter, who was just schooled by Campillo and was handed a decision. Would anyone in their right mind pick a guy like Cloud to beat Mayweather?

Which is whats crappy, If he don't fight him he is ducking him, if he beats him he isn't one of his top 5 wins.

There is no perfect fighter there is always a cop out. Not really saying you but in general. If the fighter had everything with not one cop out then he would be greater then Mayweather. Even Mayweather has a blemish of not having a prime ATG on his resume. Pac had a size disadvantage.

Canelo bring size, youth, power, and some skill and is the unified JR middle weight champ of the world. So his positives out weigh the negatives and should be a extremely highly rated win because only HOF caliber fighters would be able to move up and beat him while giving up 20pds.
