If Floyd beats Canelo is it time to start ranking him with RJJ and Sweat Pea?

Beating Canelo can't move him from 30-40 [in your opinion] to top 15-20. Canelo is a very good fighter, that's all we know of him. He's very good, he's huge, powerful, does not have the typical brawling, face first style like his other countrymen. He's very good, undefeated, and people feel he's dangerous for Floyd and that Floyd is afraid of him. With that said, a win over him will not move Floyd so many spots up. Floyd is not Pacquiao, where he gets a pat on the head and a sticker of a star with a smiley face next to his name for any win, along with all kinds of awards.

You have to remember The Mayweather Standard. Pacquiao beating Canelo at a catchweight of 150lbs for the WBC/Ring Light Heavyweight title, would have him surpass not only SRR, but also God, by these journalists and anti Floyd fans. Mayweather beating Canelo at 154 for The Ring/WBC/WBA 154 titles would get reactions like "Okay, and? Now grow some balls and fight Martinez/Lara/Golovkin.", by the same exact journalists and fans.

Anyone thinking this DKSAB beating Canelo(who has one good win) will move Floyd from 40 to 15-20:patsch Without wining MW belt he can never be in top 30!

Why shouldn't he be ranked with them now? He's already done more in the sport then Jones and sweet pea.

Started at 154 went up to HW.. Wins over Toney and Hopkins, 4 weight world champ.. Dropped from HW to win back the LHW championship in his very next fight.. Plus many solid victories over world champions and contenders.. Fighter of the decade in the 90's. Possibly the most gifted fighter to ever live.

Pretty easy to see him over Mayweather, he is for sure in my opinion. Mayweather can catch him though.

Reading some of the posts above, Roy sure as hell gets underrated like crazy to all of the people that posted Mayweather has passed him years agol

I don't see Mayweather ever moving up in weight to fight a prime undefeated fighter as talented and accomplished as James Toney.:deal

So wins add to a fighter's resume, but losses don't diminish it?

Hell no. Let him beat GGG and Ward and then Yes. He won't go
    near either though.

lol he started his career at Jr LW and is 5'8. Its not like he is 5'10 and capable of filling out to be a MW. **** Mosley and Hoya who were both big Welters had trouble moving up to MW.

I already rate Floyd in the low teens, and he'd certainly jump to the top 10 if he beat a guy top rated at a higher weight, more than a decade younger, and outweighing him by 20 lbs? That's impressive. He won't be above Jones as I have him rated as #1, but Whitaker? Maybe.

I already rate him above both and I am a big-time Whitaker fan. Both Whitaker and Jones Jr. lost to guys that would be schooled by Floyd(given even size). In Jones' case he doesn't have the skill-level of Floyd. In Whitaker's case, cocaine is a helluva drug.

Sorry, your ATG ranking doesn't go up drastically when you beat a guy you're supposed to beat. That's the Phonaire effect. Floyd is near those two already and beating Canelo doesn't change anything. Canelo has only beaten Trout and a game Lopes. Now, if Canelo should win, then that's a big jump in cred.

Yes. Roy was amazing athleticism wise but his level of opposition there for a while was pretty poor. I mean between Toney and Ruiz, that is a long time period, and most of those guys sucked that he fought between then.
