He'd be the only guy in history to claim both the lineal 130lb & 160lb titles, unless I've forgotten about somebody.

Where would this put Floyd all time?

Floyd's stock would rise, but not by much because:

1-just like for cotto, it's slightly tainted due to not fighting the actual best/guy at his best
    2-has already beat cotto before
3-needs to fight the other lion - pacman (forget the negotiation issues)
4-or fight another young dangerous lion - thurman.
5-fighting and beating GGG At 154/160 would rise his stock much higher than beating cotto and gaining that lineal title imo

The problem with Mayweather fighting Cotto is that Cotto is TR. So if he's willing to fight Cotto at TR under Arum, then his reason for not fighting Pacquiao looks invalid and like a complete duck.

It'd mean very little considering the circumstances

    I mean..

Winning the 160 belt from someone who's not a true MW
    someone he already beat before
someone who hasn't done **** at 160 yet
and most importantly, someone who got his belt by beating a pitiful one legged gimp looking to cash out...

    it's not very impressive

Cotto is not TR, he has his own promotional company that works with Bob

for those who think he's tied down with TR

And it was very telling he left "bob" out of his post fight remark of what he would do next, he only mentioned Freddy Roach.

This could be an indication he will possibly negotiate without Bob, which also means he could be open to the mayweather rematch, which I think he is confident of based upon because of 1- first fight - decent performance 2-improved under roach 3-confidence from his Martinez victory

    You just never know

Void will not fight a rematch with Cotto, he is afraid. Void should fight Void next.

Pac beat the living hell out of Cotto, made him a bloody mess, stopped him..............

Floyd isn't going to fight Cotto again unless Cotto moves down to 147 or a catch weight of 150 and that ain't happening.

He's not going to fight Cotto for that specific reason.

I wouldn't give Mayweather much credit because he didn't fight Martinez. He'd be fighting someone he already beat, except they'd be a few lbs heavier. Cotto only weighed in at 155, Mayweather fought him at 154. It'd be the same fight for a new title.

Like was stated Cotto is a free agent that has worked with TR on a per fight basis, based on accomplishments, skillset, & resume he has a legit argument for being a top 5 PR boxer of all time which would make him an ATG. As much as I enjoy watching Martinez/GGG neither of them will be considered the greatest anything all time Golovkin has a chance as he's somewhat new.

Imo just based off that Mayweather-Cotto II @ say 158/9 is more historically significant that either May-GGG, Marvella Mayweather wouldn't be the first person to rematch a fighter for a title at a higher weight and won't be the last its not like he's rematching Ortiz for another Title it would be two HOFer/ATG's going at it again.

Cotto in 1 fight just got a better MW resume than GGG/Quillin the first fight though not close in rds won was competitive in every rd. My real opinion is at this point the names Mayweather fights don't matter its about the accomplishment and beating the Undisputed MW Champ and holding the Lineal WW, JMW, & MW Title at the same times makes his argument for being top 10/15 all time much stronger.

and yet would only fight him again at a catchweight of 151 for Cotto's 154 belt. I wonder why?

Wouldnt he then be lineal 147, 154 and 160 lbs champion?
