If Floyd beats Pac when both are a lot older, how much will that count?

If Floyd beats Pac when both are a lot older, how much will that count in your eyes? Let's say when both are above 35 and are still fighting (or maybe older). Would Floyd's victory be discredited since Pac is no longer in his prime? Or would the reaction be otherwise?

In my eyes, I think if that fight were to happen when both fighters are not in their prime and if Floyd wins, Floyd's victory would still be recognized. When considering which fighter is better, longevity plays a part, and Floyd's style seems to allow him to have a longer career.

What do you guys think of this possible scenario and the longevity aspect in determining which fighter is better?

If Pac is still very good and Floyd is on the slide too, it should still count as a very good win.
But not nearly as much as if they fought in '09 or '10.

Come on man, if they are still considered 1 and 2 pound for pound then it counts as a A level victory, no less. This goes both ways. If the circumstances change then the debate starts but right now the mob has them at 1,2 so lets get the fight made.

Not in ring years. Floyd's style means he could be like Hopkins and fight into his 40s. Pacquiao's style isn't very helpful when it comes to longevirty.

I'll agree with that, Floyd will still need to adjust his style a little, he still uses his reflexes to great effect, but they will errode with time.

I think it counts alot. If one guy declines more than the other, the dynamics have changed. I don't give Floyd full credit for beating Corrales under the circumstances he did. Same with RJJ vs Toney. Waiting for a guy to slip in how they perform then figthing them and claiming you beat that challenge is decieving. To be fair, Pac does the same damn thing when he has guys move to down to catch weights. It decieving bs.

Fight a man at his best, then claim your better than him.

I think we are already nearing the end of days for Pacquaio as a super dominant fighter.

He's got too much going on and I think his heart is out of the sport in a competitive fashion.

Floyd, IMO, is slipping in his game. Ortiz shouldn't have been able to tough him, but he did.

That's what it sounded like to me lol

trying to build the excuses already even though Floyd is older

so if floyd wins - PAC age caught up with him
if PAC wins - he beat a slick black fighter in his prime

eastsideboxing & manical PAC fans - u gotta love it

I think they're already both past prime. Not by a long way - but the fight isn't what it would have been two years ago had the testing thing not been a factor and they just plain fought one another.

Pac's a fighter who relies most on his athleticism, speed and movement. He's mid 30's already, those attributes are bound to start fading soon. If Floyd beats him and Pac is clearly past prime, he'll get as much credit for it as Hopkins gets for his win over Roy Jones. Very little. Floyd will have no-one else to blame. He'll play it up though, treating us like fools, like he does with the Marquez win. No doubt. This fight should've happened in 2009.
