I think Hatton would be treated the same had he not got knocked out the last fight. I mean, we are all aware how utter demoralizing it must be to be an undefeated icon and then loose badly while your whole nation watched. I think Hatton deserves to take an easy fight first before he starts to challenge more competitive boxers. Floyd, well, if you are into this guy I feel sorry for you. Though I respect the hell out of his skills I would never expect him to do anything other than what he does. When Floyd does something dissappointing every one goes ape ****. But I am just thinking, what the hell did you expect? Floyd would milk the Oscar tit as long as he is able. He'll probably try and milk Hatton's tit again after DLH. Then we'll finally be rid of the *******.

 

People claiming that Hatton is a "fraud" irritate me. The starting point for assessing Hatton has to be his record and that record is pretty impressive. Nobody who beat Kostya Tszyu or knocked out Jose Luis Castillo is a fraud. Below them his victims include a considerable number of good pros too. All too often boxing fans only seem to have two assessments of a fighter: Either he's the greatest boxer in the world and is practically invincible, or he's a talentless "fraud". Hatton, at least for those of us able to see shades of grey, is neither.

He's a very good fighter. Mayweather showed that he's not top 5 pound for pound, but losing to the best fighter in the world doesn't suddenly make you into a mug.

Now, that said, I think that Witter has been underrated for a very long time and I think that he would be in with a very good chance against Hatton. It makes perfect sense for Hatton to fight Rees. Rees provides a title fight, with a domestic rival, with much less risk. I don't begrudge Hatton taking the easiest available title shot in his first fight back from defeat, but we all know that Hatton-Witter is the fight boxing fans, and in particular British boxing fans, want to see.

 

You're a newbie to BOXING. Once you bacame a Floyf fan the past couple years you probably thought you knew it all....

So why didn't you respond to what I said? If you don't think Hatton or Cotto are on Floyd's level, why do you adhere them to Floyd's standard? Obviously certain fighters are held to a certain standard and others are not. Talk your self out of that if you can.

 

Its very convenient for Hatton to say this but its just an excuse, a way to rationalize away the very threat of getting his ass worn out by Witter. I dont have any respect for anyone that ducks an obvious challenge and in your own backyard its deplorable, the UK fans should be in an uproar. I wonder what they think of this situation.

As for your question, most people really are not interested in Witter. Most people want to see the 2 best WW get it on, PBF & Cotto and it is the biggest fight that can be made in boxing right now.

The best should fight the best in EVERY DIVISION. There is no logical defense to any Champion claiming "i dont like so and so, so i wont fight him".

Witter has been winning and has earned a place in the championship picture at 140. Hatton was the man and is the MAN. But being the MAN? Demands that you fight the top opponents, PERIOD.

Claiming Hatton is crap is crap itself. He has regressed and he forgot about jabbing, which bizarrly seems to blow Mayweather's whenever you hit him with it.

Hatton needs to look at his approach to fighting and diversify his overall thinking, that said he'd still beat the **** out of most of the 140 pound fighters.

Floyd's fear is a heavy hitting pressure fighter with a tasty jab and good movement. Its not rocket science? Cotto should get that fight and stick a jab in Mayweather's face ad nausem.

By the way, Thomas Hearns would have destroy Floyd, the more I think and watch him, the more I wish the other Hitman had got it on with him.
