WBC wants the big names as their champion b/c they want to be recognized as a more credible sanctioning body. To the average fight fan, they are doing a good job. WBC has Sam Peter (ok), Haye, Dawson, Calz, Pavlik, V. Forrest, PBF, Witter (ok), etc... as their champs.

IN any case floyd has never been available for a fight with Williams so Williams did not choose margarito over floyd. After the Judah fight floyd set his sights on Baldomir then Oscar and Hatton. Williams has never been on his radar.

No PBF is the posterboy for the WBC and they love the idea of the P4P #1 boxer in the world holding their belt, they won't strip him. Not to mention PBF has always liked the WBC belts more than the others and has always tried to win them.

Williams didn't have a big enough name ... you go from winning your 5 fights on PPV against big names to go to B.A.D to face an up and coming guy -- it doesn't make sense.

I agree with what the WBC does ... bigger names + bigger fights = bigger sanctioning fees.

There's no fighter w/o a title worthy of stepping in the ring and making a big fight that people will be willing to watch.

If Floyd fought ... Oktay Urkal, Luis Collazo, Andre Berto, Issac Hlatswayo, they're ranked top 10

Big names create interest and bring the big bucks ... If Floyd were to fight a a top 10 contender other than Mosley and Cotto ... people would just say that Floyd fought a no named bum and was fighting an easy fight.

It doesn't make sense to watch Floyd fight a fighter ranked in the top 10 because they're unknown -- they don't have credible resumes and don't bring any buzz.

Jackson Bonsu, Joshua Clottey, aren't on the radar ...

The big names and the more worthy Cintron, Margarito, Judah (who Mayweather already beat), Cotto, and Mosley are fighting each other.

You can X out ... Mosley and Judah who are both in crossroads fights --
You can also X out the loser of Margarito v Cintron ...

That only leaves 2 fighters (possibly) Cotto v Margarito/Cintron

and you cross out the winner of that fight then theres a clear cut favorite to fight Floyd.

That makes sense ... If Cotto emerges then he's the man and the same goes for Margarito and Cintron.

The public wants Cotto and I see Cotto getting a shot even if he loses during that tournament like setting.

Cintron does have enough clout - Margarito does but his loss to Williams and Williams loss to Cotto really hurt his chances, even if he beats Cotto.

:think So,you really think Floyd would have fought him if Williams wanted it and the wbc told him to? (like they would anyway)

I hate it when champions are stripped! look what the WBC have done to the lightweight situation.

Mayweather is linear champ, he does not need the WBC, but with the amount of WBC fights PBF has won, and how publicly proud he is of his green belts, I doubt the WBC will go out of their way to strip their poster boy.

I missed that fight....was that the one where Cotto literally sat down on Williams chest and ate his ribs for the TKO.

I'm sorry I meant Quintana ... even in a loss to Margarito his win over Quintana holds more weight - because he beat Quintana and Quintana beat Williams and Williams beat Margarito.

I don't support cannibalism in boxing but it would be quite the sight.
