If Floyd ducks Williams and Cotto he isn't the champion at 147. Period. Say anything you want, but he isn't.

Agreed!! Do you honestly think he would fight either of them though. Its Floyd he will just fight washed up fighters or junior welters and declare himself the best welterweight out there.

well it would be a case him being the disputed /undisputed champ..

Like we coudnt say Calzaghe was Undisputed until he beat Kessler ...

Personally whilts Cotto looms at 147 we cant consider floyd "undisputed" but he is the legit champ at 147

Agreed - he will still be the RING Champion, but I wouldn't consider him "the welterweight champion"

I think if Floyd has a good showing against Hatton that he will in fact target Miguel Cotto. Or we could hear another tearful retirement speech after the Hatton fight. But Cotto is a safer and smarter fight for Mayweather. I see Mayweather absolutely carving Cotto up and I'm a big fan of Cotto. Miguel's improving fundamentals and raw explosive punching are enough to outlast MOST of the elite welters but I just can't see him beating Floyd. Floyd will make him miss all night and punish him in the process. Paul Williams on the other hand may pose more of a stylistic problem for PBF than Cotto would. Hate to say it but "styles make fights".

no, he's gotta fight cotto and williams- unless they unify in the near future. maybe a possibility since cintron hurt his wittle hand. then he of course must face the winner.

But no matter how we hate it . . . he is a belt holder so he is a Champ at 147. :D

You gotta fight up and coming opposition. What has Pavlik done before knocking Taylor out? Not near as much but he got the Job done didn't he.

Plus I could argue that Cotto's win over Mosley was bigger than anything Floyd has ever done as far as single fights go.

Right now Floyd is THE champion no doubt, he beat Baldo and Baldo was Linear, but he should fight Cotto after this. A win over Miguel would look very nice on his record.
