If Floyd faught cotto and flattened him. What would you say about them

    this thread isnt for commentary between the ongoing fued but just to see how you would feel about floyd IF he were to completely beat up on cotto... whether your a floyd fan or hater or cotto fan or hater..

    assuming floyd wins like 8-4 or 9-3...

    and please lets avoid this

    "that would never happen"
    "impossible"
    "cotto is god"
    etc etc

    Id be impressed because Cotto is a dangerous opponent, but I wouldn't be hugely impressed because I think it would happen.

    I would say "WOW, Floyd is indeed the best fighter of this generation". And I would hope to god that he cracks everyones top 20 atg

    #1) He would have cemented his place totally without any question as a top 10 - 20 ATG status

    so he could retire without anyone ever questioning his accomplishments.

    #2) If he want to jump into that top 5 status, I'd love to see him attempt to go up and beat a middle weight champ who is relevant like Pavlik or whoever the current champ would be at the time.

    i would be incredibly impressed ...

    i feel the fight is even and could go either way.. nobody has any real clue until they step in the ring.

    id be happy tho because floyds my favorite... and would definitely cement floyd as being that ****ing dude of this era

    I think it would be the best win in his career.... and at this stage of his career, i think that says a lot. It would FORCE people to recognise him as King.

    PBF would go up in my estimations for just taking a fight with cotto. if he then went on the won it i'd be impressed as i honestly believe cotto v PBF is a 50/50 fight. if he won it handsomely then yes, he's proved he's the number one WW out there and one of the best fighters of his generation. couldn't argue with that.

    also if floyd did that... i could totally understand him retiring, as besides a few guys here and there, nobody stands out for him to fight below 160. He would have beat the last great challenger to his throne, wont be another for some time if he beat cotto.

    and about cotto - he wouldnt go down in my estimation at all, just got outboxed by the best boxer in the world.

    Mayweather would reaffirm that he's an ATG and the best fighter of his generation. It is the only fight left.

    that would be enough for me to put Floyd in top 10 ATG status....Cotto is clearly the biggest threat to Floyd at 147 or below, and if he beats Margarito Floyd HAS to take that fight or retire....
