No because he didn't do anything in that decade, Floyd became P4P number 1 and Pacquaio only took his place beating Floyd leftovers after Floyd retired

This fight gives us the opportunity to see who was the best between them. They were both at their best in this decade but who's the best of the decade? Lets hope we find out

corrales and castillo were 10 ****ING YEARS AGO

Judah wasnt, but was coming off a loss and he wasted a fight against him

Hatton was past his prime vs pac and not floyd? ok....the fights were 18 months apart......

dont bring up margo or cotto, floyd ducked them both and fought the sharmba mitchells of the world....... fighters who are past their prime just means they may be at 90% instead of 100%

My honest objective post here is that we have to wait until 2019 to know the fighter of the decade. It is too early in the decade to already crown the fighter of the decade. For all we know, the fighter of the decade is still 14yrs old now and will make his mark five years from now.

This pretty much explains it. I truly believe it was a popularity contest of who you like more. Of course my opinion is Floyds the far more superior fighter no matter how anyone wants to discredit his resume as if he fought 40 tomato cans. Manny has fought more past prime fighters and guys coming off losses their last significant fights plus Floyd's leftovers. Floyd was P4P 1 for of grip of the decade while Manny was P4P1 only at the end(during Floyds retirement) of the decade. And yes if Floyd beats Manny which he more than likely will in a dominating fashion they should make him fighter of the decade because he truly proved it beating the only other significant fighter for that title.

But how can you take the FOTD award off one boxer and give it to another just because said boxer loses...whilst we are not even in the decade in question? Added to the fact that Mayweather took two years off from the decade...

Brazil beat Spain the other week...should FIFA strip Spain of the World Cup and crown Brazil the champions? :huh

I think Floyd is on the back side of his career. He hasn't been the same since he lost his urge.

    Yes & no.....

Most of us here agree that Mayweather was the best fighter of the decade & it was between he & Pac for greatest, its a shame they couldn`t have fought in the ring to decide... but from the opposite point of view, the decade IS over with.

I think the best Mayweather can do is beat Pacquiao in dominant fashion ASAP next year (assuming there`s no upset in the Pac-Margarito bout) & go on one of his usul rants about the FOTD being not that good, he told us so, 42-0 etc etc.
He`s already blown the FOTD thing by taking 2 yrs off, he was miles ahead of everyone & only gave Pac a sniff once he took those 2 yrs off, he has himself to blame for allowing that award to slip thru his fingers IMO.

If they're the same size they should fight at 140. Or 135 even.
