Ok, I'm not even sure whatyoure asking. Canelo has shown enough ability to be ready for Mayweather. He does not need to be considered the best fighter ever because Mayweather hasn't fought the best himself. Ortiz? Guerrero? Here are the facts.

Canelo won that fight, it was a close fight but with a clear winner 115-112 I scored it. Trout has pedigree and is a big scalp. Canelo was not troubled once by anything Trout did, threw a lot of jabs, man missed and Canelo hurt Trout most times he landed clean.

Canelo is the WBA and WBC 154 champion. Beat the guy who whooped Cotto, and beat him without ever looking uncomfortable or getting hurt.

Now you answer my question. Tell me who Canelo has to beat before he is "ready" for Mayweather.

This is truly a pathetic post.

    - Ortiz and Guerrero are not ready either. Guerrero does not deserve a shot and I GENUINELY am more interested in watching fights from 140, Mares-De Leon, Donaire-Rigo etc. than this fight.

    - It wasn't a comfortable win, a lot of people have Trout winning, and I had Trout winning, but now watching it again I'm giving more rounds to Canelo.

    - Just because you're better than certain others, it doesn't mean you're ready. Fallacy committed by you.

    - There's a lot Canelo needs to improve on if he wants to beat Mayweather, as Mayweather will tag him all night. Canelo getting the experience against Cotto will be golden. Canelo WILL improve.

If you're from America, just please, go to sleep your brain is too tired. You're way too paranoid of people saying anything in support of Floyd. :patsch

You make some good points, but if Canelo isn't 'ready' for Mayweather, then who is?

Canelo is arguably the number 1 lmw in the world right now. By anyone's rankings Floyd and canelo would be the top 2.

It's impossible to call the fight a cherry pick.

i'm guessing that reply is to me,and it's a good reply
    here is my answer...

canelo, for a man of 22, is the next big thing 'a la oscar' in terms of $$
it's very impressive where he sits now, and after trout he has earnt it

of course mexicans scored the fight for canelo - i'm not saying canelo didnt win - but i am saying that trout's superior work rate and the red eye target he had to canelo's body, won him the fight on the scorecard of some people

more than a few people outside mexico had the fight for trout
ESPN commentators were torn on the result, for example

doesn't matter now, canelo won the fight

what DOES matter, is that canelo walked in at 172 for the fight against trout and floyd started at super featherweight

the oscar fight was a bridge too far for floyd, and he is not going back there against a man who weighs 172 come fight night - period

You talk of pathetic posts and go on about something which is not even the point. I haven't said he's ready to beat Mayweather. I said he's done more than enough to warrant that shot! Canelo is ready to be in the same ring as Mayweather. By your pointless rationale because you don't think he can beat Mayweather he is therefore not worthy of a shot when countless more inferior fighters are worthy of shots?

Absolutely riduculous!!! My point is Canelo is now at the point where he's proved he's the best at 154 and has done enough to deserve a shot at Mayweather. It's that simple

Canelo isn't ready because he's not the best that he could be, I feel he'd be taking the fight prematurely. Of course it will be a great win for Mayweather's resume, but it could be better..

Fighters who I deem 'ready' are people like Martinez, Ward (I know Ward is too big bla bla, and Martinez is too)..

In terms of legacy, no one at 140, 147, 154 deserve a title shot. But since Mayweather is in reality going to make fights, Canelo is thus the best option, ready or not.

Canelo/Mayweather is the biggest fight out there right now but this fight will never happen.
FLoyd will end his career by fighting 140lbrs who moved up to meet him at 147.
not a knock on Floyd, just a fact!

Whether the weight is too much for Floyd is another argument. He shouldn't make a song and dance about taking on the best at 154 and proclaiming himself the best without backing it up.

Anyway the 4th line of your post is my point so we agree. I said the fight was close but Canelo the definite winner 115-112 I scored it. My point is Canelo has done more than enough to be considered worthy

I have to disagree with you on Guerrero and Ortiz not being ready for Mayweather, Ortiz was at the height of his Career he was about as ready as he was ever going to get, and Guerrero is a 5 time champion what else do he have to do to be ready. That would be like saying Mosley wasn't ready for De La Hoya when they fought. Each fighter is ready when they decide the want the fight. Whether it be for money or fame, when they decide I can get that guy let them try, because that will be the most movtivated you will ever have a fighter to be. Look for Guerrero to give Mayweather a tough fight he believes his pressure and left hand style will be enough. I don't think it will but I do believe Mayweather will be in for a tough fight. For Mayweather I believe you need and up Jab followed closely by a straight right hand mixing in the occational right hook to the body and head. Cotto had the jab but wouldn't follow it with the straight right enough to make floyd pay for his shoulder roll. Up jab inside the lead should.

Using stats i.e 5 time world champion etc. does not do justice when making a judgement.

Mosley was ready because HE LOOKED GREAT, AND BY THE TIME HE FOUGHT OSCAR, HE IS ALREADY IN THE HISTORY BOOKS for how GOOD he is. And he was one of the best lightweights of all time. Guerrero = no way near.

Beating a silver welterweight champ + Berto coming off a loss against a former opponent whilst only being able to see little from early on in the fight...= Not good enough. Beating Jason Litzau and the likes in a SMALLER weight class too = not good enough.

If we're going to look at the abysmal reign post Castillo II for Mayweather, then sure, he is worthy of a shot. But then that means, Maidana is ready for a shot too. :thumbsup
