If Floyd fights Khan and wins, where does that elevate him on the ATG rankings?

Khan would be just another routine defence wouldn't rank as one of Mayweather top 5 wins, so would add nothing to Mayweather's legacy.

So when Ezzard Charles ended his career with a streak of about 20 fights over relative no name opponents, with a losing record against them at that, that must have decreased his stock AMAZINGLY for you, huh? Like, Ezzard shouldn't even be in your top 75 ATG's.

    See.

I said this in another thread.

Only a fighters' top 5 opponents faced holds relevance nowadays.

Yes. Khan is obviously the man to beat.... maybe that's why everybody is beating him?

    Sounds about right.

I would be very surprized if he had any problems with Khan. I consider it conventional wisdom that he should beat Khan if they fought and because of that it should not heighten Mayweathers ranking. A fighter should not get much credit for winning a fight that fans agree on that the same fighter is more than a little likely to win. Mayweather should not just win but, dominate...however if he loses, I would think he should drop a little for the same reason.

If all that Floyd has done in his career isn't enough to move him higher nothing that he does now will, with the lack of serious competetion around him.

The Pacqauio fight would have been the career defining fight. It was there, we all wanted it, and we did not get it. Instead we got years of speculation about steriods, but I digress. I believe Flyd is still fighting because he feels he has more to prove on top of making money. I actaully hope that is the case, because if it is just for money he is really fleecing the fans by charging us so much for fights that we know he will win.

Now, had he spared us all the steriod talk and taken the Pacquaio and won (which I expect he would but, at great difficulty) I think there would be nothing left to prove for Floyd, I would be more happy that he is taking on easier bouts. Then we/I could start honestly finding his most comfortable spot among the all-time greats. As it stands now, either his Coralles, or Gatti fight is his career defining win. These wins are nothing to sneeze at but, when you start talking all-time great wins, they are not only something to sneeze at but something ignore.
